K8N Neo2 CPU Temp Auto Shutdown?

Okay, while I was swapping out memory modules the other day to try to get dual channel mode working, I think I accidentally pulled the heatsink's power connector loose. I started surfing the web a little while after I finally got my system to boot into dual channel mode, and I noticed my CPU temp rising (1st 47 degrees, then eventually 57 degrees). Then I noticed the heatsink fan wasn't spinning, and I freaked. So I shut down, waited about an hour for the CPU to cool down, securely plugged in the heatsink's power connector and booted. Everything's been okay since then.

So is there some sort of dynamic CPU temp shutdown setting in the BIOS? The manual refers to the Cool'N'Quiet feature as a mechanism that "provides a CPU temperature detecting function to prevent your CPU's from overheating due to the heavy working loading," which is really the only mention of any sort of CPU temp detection. BTW, doesn't Cool'N'Quiet basically try to minimize power consumption according to your workload like Intel Speedstep?

Also, I noticed that the Core Center application has some thresholds you can set for warnings including the CPU, system, and northbridge temps. However, I don't think any of these mechanisms would actually shut down your machine (at least there's no mention of it in the manual).

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Setup:
Athlon64 3200+ (socket 939 Winchester core)
Thermaltake Silent Boost
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum (BIOS v. 1.3)
1GB OCZ Enhanced Latency DDR466 Rev. 3
single 36.7GB WD Raptor
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro (Catalyst 4.9)
Sony CPD-E540/B 21" Trinitron
Windows XP Pro SP2

Yes there is such thing. Depending on make/version of BIOS it may be located in a different directory, so you'll just have to browse to find it, but it should be there.

Yes, I figured there should be something, but I've been through the BIOS dozens of times now, and there is no such setting. If you like, you can download the manual itself from

http://www.msi.com.tw/program/...php?UID=607&kind=1

and read through the chapter on the BIOS. Unless I'm blind, there's no mention other than the Cool'N'Quiet setting. On my old Abit KR7A, there was a setting that would at least produce a warning message like a beep to alert you that the CPU is overheating. Is there any such setting for the K8N Neo2?

To those that also have a K8N Neo2 or any other Athlon64 mobo, what's the name of this setting in your BIOS (assuming you have such a setting)?

Thanks.

it's called cool n quiet. but i've never used it as of yet. and it doesn't mention the shut down temp as the settings for it are disabled and auto.
