I just tried to install it and it froze right before it started copying the BIOS files. Reset and tried again, the same problem. I have no idea what the problem is. I'm using BIOS v1.8 right now.

That BIOS is just for the K7T Pro boards. It will f#%k up a Pro2 or Pro2-A. Be patient, new BIOS updates will come out for those boards soon enough...

Here's the .txt file of that bios
Changes since v1.60

What does change KT133->KT133a mean??

Actually, this BIOS (1.83b) is not for Pro1, its for Pro2A. I visted their site and discovered it located under the 2A section of updates. I can't speak (or read) a word of German, but I think it is for Pro2A.

I've tried it - didn't f@#k up my system, or was I lucky?

It will end up most likly for all of them. You all know how MSI BIOS installs the right thing for the right model of motherboard.

I wonder if this is the source of my "can't install '98' blues I have been facing.
I have a promise 66 and when I try to boot the '98 install CD it hangs when it scans the PCI bus on the second pass.

I have no hard drives except on the raid controller.

Will have to check it out and see.

Can all you K7T Pro, Pro2 and Pro2a users post your Sandra memory scores when you have a chance? I'm trying to figure out whether my Pro2 and Mosel RAM is giving me decent results. I am hitting 420/501 with my Duron 750 @ 875 and 103 FSB. Thanks.

Thanks for that tip. I received a not from MSI when i inquiried about it and they said it would cause system instability, if it would boot at all. I will give it a whirl when I am acutally back home in a week and a half.

The 1.83B Bios is definitely for Pro2A but as i know also for Pro2. I´m using the 1.83B Bios with my Pro2A and it´s working without any problems with Duron 700 not overclocked yet. Also the 1.83B works faster than the original 1.70.

Running BIOS 1.83 with my K7TPro2 (not A) just fine. RAM can be set automatically using the SPD. Sandra mem scores are 420/510. FSB is 103.

The scores for my duron 800@846 (106mhz bus) in 2000
are:
int: 441
fpu: 533

800@800 (100) scores are:
int: 422
fpu: 505
