K7S6A questions?

What is the CNR slot on this board for? Is it like the AMR slot on the K7S5A? The ECS website says you can use only 2 slots ram slot if you use pc333 ram, as opposed to 3 with 266 ddr ram? Whats that all about?

What else is better or worse on this board compared to the K7S5A?

Thanks

Like on current K7s5a they have 2 slot for the pc133 sdram and 2 slots for ddr ram...you have to pick one type and then you can only occupy that type...no mismatching...I am not sure on the 2 versus 3 arrangement...remember the 333mhz which is pc2700 ram and to achieve it will most liekly mean ocing the fsb to get it...I think the pc2700 has its own slots due to the higher voltage requirements for that type of memory. My guess is that...

Other features:

1) I have heard it will have more fsb adjustments

2) I think it has some volatge adjustments and overall much more oc friendly

3) It has the sis745 chipset which should lead to some performance gains...I have seen some very preliminary reviews on this board that state the a1 stepping of this chip and board has produced score equal to the kt266a boards...

Otherwise it still offers ata100 support, but lacks built-in firewire support...

I think other offerings by asus and msi may be the bright spot for the sis745 boards...

DDR only, cpu voltage adjustment in the bios, no voltage adjust for the ram tho, more ram settings in bios, multiplier setting by jumpers on the board. I noticed right away that the capacitaors around the about twice the size of the ones on the K7S5A board.

The CNR slot is for a modem,or network card, a waste of PCB IMHO.
