k7s5a + Win2k + 2 maxtor drives = PIO mode only? NEED DMA!

I am running a k7s5a with an athlon 1600. I am using the most recent bios for overclocking, but have speed at 138. i have SMART enabled in the bios.I have win2k on the machine with service pack 2. I have a brandnew 7200 rpm 80gig maxtor and a 30 gig 5400 rpm maxtor from my ol machine. Both are coming up as PIO mode 4. How do i enable DMA? I have the settings to use DMA if available, but they are not kicking over. My Mitsumi CD-r is using DMA, but the drives are not.

I am not using ATAPI. After getting errors from the install of win2k, i used the suggestions on this board to hit F5 at the beginning of the startup and select personal computer instead of letting win2k detect its settings. Could this have any effect? From my understanding, it is ok not to use ATAPI if its a clean install.

Any advice would be great. I fear its a setting in the Bios, but i am not sure.

I don't know what's about that DMA setting in BIOS (my Intel BX2 doesn't give any options to enable or disable DMA, or does it?)

Go to this page and look at item number 4. You should load the SISIDE EXE. Other drivers necessary for Win2K are there also.
