K7S5A Shutdown problem

Hi guys, it seems like there are here a few complains about the K7S5As around here.

Anyhow, let me add another one. The deal is when I turn off my computer with selecting "Shut Down" in windows. The funny thing that happens is that the comp powers down/shuts down, but then instead od turning itself off, it reboots. It gets to the point of power shut down, then boom, boots up again like a plane missing the landing zone. It is not very troubling, but anoying cuz I have to wait and manualy shut the thing down b4 it will start loading windows.

Any ideas?

Not necessarily. Total watts don't matter at all, to be exact. I gave you the figure to look for. So please stop assuming and start checking things, else we won't get past guesswork in this thread.

Could also be a software problem...had this happen after I installed an older version of Adaptec(Roxio) burning software in a WinXPpro install on an MSI KT3 ARU, uninstalling the Adaptec software allowed the board to power off.

I well bet you its the OS. Either win98se or Win2k. Both have serious issues with shutdown.

This is a known issue with Windows. Microsoft has patches for it.

My roommate's computer was doing the same thing. Installed the patch, issue resolved.
