K7S5A Screwhole heatsink that fits?

I am working with an ECS K7S5A Rev 3.1. The notches around the CPU socket on the motherboard broke off and I need to replace the heatsink. I am ok with spending the money necessary for a screwhole type heatsink, but I need to find one that will fit this motherboard. I was hoping to use the Alpha PAL8045, but I have found out that it does not fit on the Rev 3.1 K7S5A's.

Can anyone recommend a good screwhole mounting heatsink that will fit on a Rev 3.1 K7S5A?

No, I did not break all 6, just 1. I know that I could go with a Taisol or some other heatsink that uses all 6, but I would prefer to avoid them alltogether.

Use a standard heatsink that has the 3-wide clamps. Problem solved.

Ok, I understand that I have that option, but are there any screwhole heatsinks that fit the K7S5A Rev 3.1?

Is the size of the Alpha that's preventing you from using it? If so, I'm not sure you have much of a choice... To my knowledge (which is very minimal... :p), only HSF's that use mounting holes around the socket are Alpha and Swiftech, and both are huge... (unless you go H2O... :D)

I was thinking about the Alpha or Swiftech also for my ECSK7S5A, but was worried about their size. Ended up getting the Thermalright SLK-800 with the three hole clip. Excellent clip design, easy to install, and used a variable speed 80mm fan. Got the CPU's fan RPM's down to 3000 (nice and quiet) with CPU temp of 42C (44C loaded) using an XP2000+ CPU.

I prefer Arctic Cooling's extremely low revving models. Their current copper base model rotates at a whisper quiet 2600 rpm ... and yes, the K7S5A still accepts that as a sane fan speed.

After having no luck finding a good and fairly inexpensive screw-in heatsink that works with the K7S5A Rev 3.1, I took Peter's advice and went with the Taisol CGK760092 bundled with a 21.9CFM 32dBA fan.

This system is a 1.4 T-bird and is not overclocked. This will probably be fine.

Thank you all for your input.

Yes, Peter gives excellent and sound advice, especially when it comes to the K7S5A motherboard!

I have the Taisol you mentioned cooling my 1.33 GHZ T-Bird, Epox EP-8K7A mobo, non o'ced with a Sunyon fan (forget the model) running 5000 RPM in an Antec tower case. CPU gets to 42-44C with case temps around 25C. Excellent and sturdy clip (three hole), easy to install.

But recently I purchased a Thermalright SLK-800 for my new system in a generic mid-tower case, ECSK7S5A mobo, AMD 2000+ CPU (non o'ced). I actually like this clip better than the Taisol. My CPU is around 42c with case temps around 35C. You can run a lower RPM on the HSF fan also. Don't know the price difference between these two heatsinks.

Really you can't make a mistake getting either one but the SLK-800 could still be used if you decide to upgrade your CPU in the future.
