K7S5A Experience... *** AWESOME! ***

I'm having great success with this motherboard... for those of you who have it make sure you head over to ocworkbench.com forums for their ecs guides. I have both my duron 700 and 750 running at 133 at default multiplier. Integrated lan is sweet, also the sound ain't that bad as people say. IDE performance is right up their with the best. I'm using SDram on both my PCs, and they are running at this most aggressive settings. I have one hint for k7s5a users... don't use the async settings... either use 100/100 or 133/133... 100/133 actually is slower than 100/100. Anyway after all the negative comments about this board i though i would just post a positive one. Great board for $88 Canadian! Seeya!

Just joking...Congratulations...

It would be hard to be a Via fan when they have messed everything and I mean everything up in some degree.

Yeap check my sig I love my Ecs mobo I have yet to have a hardware related crash since Ive built this new rig myself in early Dec. Uh Software thats a different store😉 Because I still runn'n a micro shaft os LOL . Any how I see all the poor via mobo mofo pulling the hair out to get the mobos to run stable , give me flash backs to my previous rig 1.0gig T bird with the asus a7v133 wow what a POS that mobo was. Any how, glad to hear you had good luck with your K7s5a. Personally I think if half the people on this page with problem mobos return defective ones sooner, people could save themselves a world of greif. It this he- man commputer boy , "i can bring any rma mobo to life" mentality went away and manufactors started get back more of the pos mobos (whether due to poor design , quality of build or $hitty A$$ bios writting) they may start putting better quality mobos. *sorry for the rant but I think all mobo companys are guilty of churnning out POS mobos Asus , abit, ecs etc..... you name the company they all have dog mobos they should not have never released* Until this uptopia world breaks out , the only defense you have is a retailer with good return policys so if you do catch a clunker you can get try a differnent mobo or get the same one but on that works. :Q😉😀

I use CPUcool to overclock the FSB and I've been able to get a 700Duron to run@133x7=931mhz and a 1.4 T-Bird@146.6x10.5=1540mhz , it also has hardware monitoring.

has anyone else experienced this slow down when using async setting?

currently have a 750 duron in it and it wont post at 133 fsb. I was thinking of using 100/133. I also have a centon pc2100 256mb
on its way and want to be able maximize the 133 fsb setting.at least for the memory.

I was able to make this 750 duron work at 1ghz in my old kk266 board for some reason it wont post in this board and I have to reset cmos every time I try 133x 7.5

using the overclocking bios I am able to use 112/112 setting(840mhz)

P.S. this board has issues with voodoo cards (voodoo3 2000 at least) stuttering in dvd playback, experienced by other voodoo owners.

AnMig,

Did you pencil in your L7 bridges on your duron so that it is running at 1.85volts? The ECS doesn't have voltage adjustments so your duron won't post at 133 unless you manually change the voltage on the processor itself.

not true. Some processor will allow you to run at higher speeds at the default voltage. Most will require you to up the voltage though. I had a duron 600 which would run at 1000+ at default V.

I am glad its working out for you. I am just waiting patiently to get rid of the one that I have. Its flat out garbage.

Hey Guys.

Mr. Athlon (and some others) got booted from the "workbench" website for helping peeps
with thier K7S5A problems.

They can now be found at this Link.

Here

These gentlemen have done a ton of research and problem solutions with this Mboard.
