I have a problem with this that i know many have been having. I have the same booting problem that many people have...I turn it on the fans go and the the cd-rom lights flash but nothing else and until yesterday turning it on and off 30 times it would finally work once but its been a day now and i get get it to post. The last two weeks of my old motherboard ( Asus a7v133a) before i switched to the K7S5a would have a little booting porblem here and there but nothing like this. I didnt have a amd apporved psu so i thought that was the prob but i bought a 350watt AMD appreoved psu and its didnt seem to do anything different. I know the vid card is ok because i tried it out on another computer and it works great. I tried the rocking it back and forth to losen up the agp slot like many suggested and still nothing. Could this be a cpu prob? Any thoughts would really be great because im lost...My System: K7s5a, 40 gig maxtor hdd, creative SB Live X-gamer, Linksys Lan, WinTV PCI, G-force3 agp, AMD T-bird 900, 350watt psu amd approved, sony cd-rw. Thanks!

What kind of ram are you using? If it isn't on the ECS list for the K7S5A it could be your problem. Also, did you reseat the ram and CPU as well? Have you read the FAQ's at OCworkbench?

I haven't read of anyone using Mushkin but hopefully someone who has it working with K7s5a will respond. I would suspect it though since the majority of people with this board are using memory that's on the tested list from ECS.

I'm using two Mushkin 512 MB DDR 2100 sticks, but it's the "basic" brand. There were problems with some NEC DDR, fixed (I think) in the newer BIOSes. I stayed with the "fast" memory timings, since "ultra" actually dropped performance about 5 %.

My system seems to be fine (though I'm still searching for real bus-mastering), but it is minimal -- I'm using the onboard ethernet and sound, and an ATI XPert AGP card, the two USB ports, one 7200 WD 20 GB drive, a vanilla CD-ROM, and an IDE tape drive as slave to the CD-ROM. I don't have a single PCI slot filled.

This board sure is touchy about seating the AGP card and the memory.
