K7S5A and modem problems...

After I first upgraded the motherboard I found that all my problems seemed to be caused by my old motorola modem (win protection errors online, lost CMOS settings and finally a refusal to post). After removing the modem the system worked like a dream, but when I picked up a new modem I've been unable to install it.

Its a PCI diamond supraexpress 56 Internal pro VCC (whatever all that means) and, after inserting it, windows 98 detects it immeadiately. But when i insert the driver cd windows tells me that it cannot find a driver. I've tried all 5 PCI slots, with no change. I've tried installing the drivers manually with the .exe file provided, but this tells me that the hardware has not been detected. I downloaded the latest drivers from diamonds website (using a friends computer) but this says the same thing.

I'm left with a PCI communications device question marked in Devices Manager, and no way to use it!

Am i missing something, or does my board just hate modems?
(i should mention that i tried an old PCI video card to see if my pci slots worked, and it installed first go...)

thanks,
