I have 256MB PC133 sdram which is... well, despicable and insufficient, absolutely. I might decide to buy some DDR memory soon as the prices have been falling here ($44cdn for 256 ddr, or $87-88 for 512 ddr).

I don't want to spend *that* much, and I want more than 256... and I kinda want more than 512 too. So I was thinking 768 is a good number, but would buying a 512 and 256 stick be adviseable, would it work fine with the K7S5A mobo from ECS?

I would buy two 512's to total a gig of memory - but that would be $170+? I don't want to spend too much as I'm trying to pay off my debt right now. Total with shipping included, 512+256 would run me $143.56cdn which is equivalent to exactly $96.0955usd. So, would you get 768MB ddr memory for $96 shipped?

prices from www.shoplci.com and used www.xe.com to convert the currency.

UMM heh i got a shuttle ak32l about the same as a ECS differnt chipsets. Same memory options i went from 256 to 512 and it rocks you can get over 512mb if you want. And why would you have any problem heheh it was made to have max memory than 256.
Oh ya what os if your windows 98 your going to have probems. If you have xp or 2k ur fine.

Also to your last question i wouldnt order the 512 and 256 b/c im broke if you got the extra money go head but your in paying things off now (credit cards/bills) and if you dont really need 700+ just get the 512mb.

YEah I either run XP or 2K (XP right now).. Well, I should be done paying off my debt this thursday. If not, there will be very little left. So I don't really mind spending a little bit (no more than 200 though).

i don't want to get only 512MB.. i run out of memory too quickly now that I have XP. So I either want 768, 1024, or not bother upgrading at all and wait tilll later. The only prob I have with that is the prices could skyrocket at any time, so I would rather pick up ram while it's relatively cheap.

I have tried just about any combination of memory size you can think of with this board and all worked just fine. I am using 2x 512 right now with no problems.

Umm

you can get 512MB of Crucial DDR pc2100 (which should oc to 2700 just fine) for 53.99 shipped US thats pretty darn cheap for good DDR. Remember, this is crucial, not some crappy value ram.
