yes
i dont see why not, it will just run at 4xagp (i dont think there is a big diff between 4xagp and 8xagp in performance right now anyways)

I'm using a 9700 PRo in my system rigt now...

look at the link at the bottem of page for more info.

compare...

1800+ ... 256MEG DDR 133

No Tweaks or over clocking... AS of YET!!! :)

But I did just put in a new video card last week... ATI 9700 PRO.. and got these marks with it...

3D mark 10740

Is that good or bad? Some intel phreaks are getting over 20500.... Sigh.. Probably hard core OC'en, and other things.. But for the price I paid for my system I guess I can't complain too much!

Also you will have to reinstall your SIS AGP driver I strongly recomend getting the latest SIS video driver and also getting the latest Direct X drivers.
I have XP, I think I would have gotten better scores if I reinstalled my OS. I think for some reason it still has my old Nvidia drivers stuck in it. I had to reinstall unreal and GTA. So, if this is your game system. Just whipe out your hard drive and start from fresh...

If you really want to do it right head down to frys and get the Soyo KT333 Dragon Ultra with a 2100+ retail CPU for 155 bucks. I got the enermax case with a 350 Watt P/S for another 80 bucks.
Also got a stick of 512K ram from new egg 2700 kingston for 125.00 I just happend to have an 80Gig 7200 WD laying around. Long story short for around 370 bucks... you can get a new box...

I guess if your gonna pay 3XX for a graphics card. Might as well... I'll post my scores once I get the ram in. Should be here by friday.

As you probably already know the ONBOARD sound on the ECS SUCKS!!!!!! IF you do still use that setup at least upgrade to sound blaster live or somthing. I am thinking that if you bought a high end vid card then you did it for one reason... GAMES. But, what's greate video with out good sound?

Your 3DMark2001SE score depends on a lot of factors - hardware(CPU/video card speed, memory, etc) and settings(AF/FSAA settings, resolution, color depths, etc). That's why you see some nuts getting sky high numbers. They probably disable all features, which produces a really crap image.

There are known issues with ATI cards and the K7S5A. Several post are available at the OCWorkbench Forum. Check the current and archived ECS forum. I installed a Radeon 9700 2 weeks ago and have had the same '8 beep' problem as other users have reported on the OC forums. I have tried 5 different BIOS'es (4 tweakers and 1 official), adjusted every available setting (PCI latency, AGP, etc), and still have the 8 beep problem. Apparently ECS, SIS, and ATI are all finger pointing, but they do admit to problems using ATI cards on SIS boards. Funny thing is, after the beeps, I hit the warm reset button, and it boots and runs like a charm with absolutly no stability issues ( I have never had stability issues with any of 5 K7S5A's; 116 fps flyby @ 1600x1200 in UT3K ). I don't think it's hardware related because I took the appropriate precautions - 500 W PSU, Crucial memory, etc. It's only an annoyance, but I have ordered a VIA replacement board to slove the problem.

Details:
Tried the usual tricks; clearing CMOS, another K7S5A, different PSUs (500W Powmax, 300W Antec), different RAM (DDR and SD), card has its own power line from PSU, etc

I am using a Sapphire 9700 non-pro.

In both boards, the problem was fixed when an nvidia card was used.

I have a K7S5A with a Radeon VE(aka Radeon 7000) working properly...doesn't say a lot though, since it's an old card.

Just curious, but what is the "warm reset button"? CTL-ALT-DEL?

The button on the outside of a computer case that can be used to manually reboot the computer, but not turn it on when cold.
