I am not sure if I am violating rule by posting shipping information here, but since I am responding to a direct question....

Since we received our stock so late in the day, we did not get that many out. The shipping guys will continue to work on the orders today to get caught up. I must ask for a little patience as we are getting more orders per day right now than we ever expected. Remember, we have people buying things other than chips and they take time to box up. Thanks

Deepthrot,
Yes, I too lost the use of the mobo sensors when I flashed BIOS 1.08.

I saw a post in Aug. (at 3DNOW.net, I think) mentioning the same 350 MHz limitation problem with a K6-2+ on a BCM board. No resolution to the problem was ever posted. The only thing I can think of as an explanation for the differences between our boards is that they may be different revisions. My board is revision A02. The revision number is printed on the board near the BIOS chip. If you have the same or later revision as mine, your problem is probably solvable.

:confused:I wonder will the fic 503+ work with out flashing the bios, and when I go to the fic web site, I can't find the bios update je4330? I talked to fic customer service, and they said the K6-3+, which is a OEM wouldn't work with their board.

WOW! Talk about bringing back an oldie! :)

Well, I finally pulled the good 'ol Asus P55T2P4 mainboard and an old ATX case. I booted the mainboard with the old Pentium 166 processor. I set it to 2.0x by 75mhz (For now, I'll try 83mhz when I am convinced that 75 is stable!) and it booted as a Pentium 150.

So at least I got that stuff right. I then updated the bios to the newest rev. Shut down the computer and set the voltage to 2.0v (www.tomshardware.com has a good guide for the P55T2P4). I popped in the new CPU and booted her up! Guess what?!? :) :D :) :D

It registers as:
-MMX 400mhz CPU
on boot! :)

I'm installing Win98 as we speak!
Here are the specs:
AT case/PS
Asus P55T2P4 running at 2(6)x75 (450mhz) @ 2.0V (Bios 207)
64mb EDO ram (I hope to find some extra 72pin simms laying around)
Creative Savage 4 32mb PCI

I'll let you guys know how it runs!

Family ID : 5 (6)
Model ID : 13 (13)
Stepping ID : 0 (0)
Brand ID : 0 (0)

Clock Frequency
Internal : 451.01 MHz
External : 75.17 MHz

L1 I-Cache : 32K
L1 D-Cache : 32K
L1 T-Cache : ---
L2 Cache : 256K Byte
L2 Latency : ---
L3 Cache : ---

MMX : Supported
SIMD : Not Supported
3DNow! : Supported

Machine : IBM PC/AT
Version : Windows 98 Version 4.10.2222 A

And here are my Sandra Scores (Sandra needs a cut&paste feature!):
CPU:
CPU - 1042
FPU - 562

Multimedia:
Integer - 1107
Floating - 1631

Memory:
ALU - 84mb
FPU - 130mb

Not too bad! At least not for $50 and old hardware! :)
The memory scores are pretty pathetic. I'll try to tweak the board a little bit for better numbers!

Then I decided to load RC5 to see what the processor could do. Well it didn't know what kind of processor I had... this is what I got:

[Oct 11 18:43:22 UTC] Automatic processor type detection did not
recognize the processor (tag: "7541:05D0")
[Oct 11 18:43:22 UTC] RC5: Running micro-bench to select fastest core...
[Oct 11 18:43:54 UTC] RC5: using core #5 (RG RISC-rotate II).

Here are my scores:
RC5 short block: 770,639 k/s
RC5 long block: 768,341 k/s

I'm going to try to put in some game benchmarks... any other requests?

Will the chip work at 2.2v?

What are the odds that a motherboard with no bios update will work with this chip in it? Can you use "raw power" or something (like setk6)? I'm wanting to use it on a V70MA, who's last BIOS update is 8/98 or so.

Be careful buying these things. I got one, it doesn't work. The L2 cache is disabled or faulty, not recognized by the motherboard and is therefore really slow. CPUmark99 of only 11.2. It wouldn't even boot at 2.0 volts. I have contacted them at PC Liquidators and they refuse to do anything about it. I asked if they would give me an exchange for anohter one, but they refused. Looks like I'm getting ripped off for $60.

I don't what you call it then. Buying a cpu proclaimed to be "new". Put into one of the top Mainboards around (P5A), at the proper voltage 2.0 Vcore and it doesn't run. It will go at 2.1V, even gets recognized as K6-III, but gets the slowest scores under Win98 I have ever seen. This is a 450 Mhz chip getting cpumark99 of 11.2!!! Vendor refuses to even talk about an exchange or some type of arrangement. What do you call it then? A good deal??? Sounds to me like a bad chip. All I asked for was that out of the 600+ chips he has sold that he admit this could be a bad one and give me an exchange. Too Much to ask??

This chip has got to be the best upgrade for the money I've ever done! After flashing the BIOS on my P5A to 1011.002 beta it is recognized as a K6-III 550 and the system seems completely stable so far (running at 2.1V). I haven't tried to go any higher. Before the flash the system recognized it as an MMX-450 (ran fine) but it wouldn't boot at anything higher. Tried AMD CPUID and it's recognized as a K6-III+! The full speed cache makes such a HUGE difference.

Go for it if your board supports it! (in the end it's always worth the few extra dollars for an ASUS or equivalent MD - this board has been incredibly stable for 2 years, better than my less quality BX/Celeron system downstairs and ASUS is always there with BIOS updates even for 'old' boards like the P5A.)

Now there doesn't seem to be any reason to upgrade to an athlon or duron (yet) since I'm not a FPS gamer.

I'll agreee it's the best upgrade deal I've ever made.
I'm running @ 616 MHz (112 X 5.5) in a VA-503+ @ 2.0V.
All I had to do was upgrade to the JE4330 BIOS and everything worked great.
I'm getting a CPUMark 99 score in the 60s, and about 80-90% of a PIII-667 in Wintune.

I don't what you call it then. Buying a cpu proclaimed to be "new".

It was sold AS IS. They stated that.

Put into one of the top Mainboards around (P5A), at the proper voltage 2.0 Vcore and it doesn't run.

Have you flashed to the latest BIOS? Other people are running this chip in P5As and having no problems.

Again, it was sold AS IS. Yes it is too much to ask.

Donutman: That's great! Curious what your CPUmark99 score is on cold start and later after full operation, all normal mode (vs safe). Thanks and continued good luck.

Have a look at gregdee's post. Same board, same bios. All cache settings enabled. They sell these as new chips. As-is means, like they posted here themselves, that if you fry it they won't replace it. They posted themselves that they put that in because of the strict voltage requirements and that they were afraid people would not respect that and then burn up their chips. Well. I didn't fry the chip, it runs fine except that the full speed L2 cache is not working. It has been like this since I got the chip, not because of something I did. I got a bad chip. I feel that if they cannot admit that and take it back, run tests on it to verify that is the case, and then give an exchange for one that is working properly, then they are bad businessmen and frankly, in the wrong business.
I have a k6-2 450 that will leave this one in the dust, even running on an older P55T2P4 @ a 75Mhz bus x 6 multiplier. It also runs great on the P5A, much better scores than this k6-III+.

Yes, of course. I have also tried it on a P55T2P4 (with the latest bios). It boots and runs fine, but agian the bad scores. The only answer i have to it all is a bad chip.
Just wish these guys were better businessmen and do a little public relations. After all, if they are really selling as many as they say, then changing one bad chip wouldn't hurt them, but would certainly help with them getting good publicity. Who knows, I might even buy a few more for my other machines and for those on the network at work.

The thing is, AS IS is AS IS. Not only that, but if the L2 cache is disabled, faulty, or whatever then it should be performing at the same level as a K6-2 450.

well i just go my chip today....just wondering what everyone's cpu and case temp is when running this chip....i've read people saying these run cool, but by what standard do you mean by cool....30C? 40C? 50C?...thanks....
