I couldn't wait any longer, I had to get in on this deal. I hope to try this out in my i-opener or maybe put another system together with it.😉

Unfortunately I missed out on the MSI 5185 motherboard. I searched the MSI website from front to back but couldn't find any specs on that motherboard. Does anyone have a link to its specifications if it comes back in stock, or are there any other good deals out there right now for a compatible motherboard?

How about doing a Sandra 2000 CPU bench with that k6-3+ 600?, I've been asking for some Sandra benches everywhere but nobody seems to want to do them, I'm beginning to wonder if anyone is really getting these CPU's😱)
Also would you try CPUID and see exactly how much cache the CPU has, I know it has 256kb L2 cache but what about L1 cache?, is it the same as the K6-2+ with its 64kb L1 cache or does it have more?.

BTW how do the Faces work on this Forum, I tried to put a smiley in that post above and it did some stupid puffy cheeked thing.

Here is my cpuID numbers- I am running the 450 K6-3+ at 550 2.0 volt
on a FIC 503+ new updated beta bios je4330

I don't know how to copy my Sandra scores so I'll enter them

CPU Drystone 1314 MIPS (887868)

Cpu Whetstone 667 MFLOPS (357649)

Does anyone know how to copy the Sandra 2000 and CpuID tables the way they look when I run them, so they'll be easier to read when I post.
Thanks.

Teasy:
I am not sure what write allocation is. I went into my bios and I couldn't find that specific term.I have write cache pipeline (disabled) and read around write (disabled). I don't know if that helps. Let me know if it's listed as something else and I'll look.

Write allocation is an AMD optimization from the K6-IIs, so any up to date board and flash has it set to on, which is a long time ago. <G>

Thats not always true, I have a k6-2+ that is fully recognised by my SS7 M/Board, but I need to use Uart's W/A prog to enable Write Allocation. I'd advise anyone if not completely sure about W/A being enabled on there system to use Uart's W/A prog and see if there sandra 2000 scores and general game speed goes up, I get an extra 2-3 fps with W/A enabled, and the Sandra 2000 scores are allot higher with it enabled.

hey esquared

Where did you find that Beta Bios version?? (a link would be nice)
And what version (1.1a,1.2a) of the FIC VA-503+ are you running and which ecn (1000,O0370)is it from.

just wondering.

I have a K6-2 350 (cxt) on an OLD motherboard. Will this new one work? There are no bios updates. I think its an ALi LX (4mb Rage Pro)

You didn't provide any info on the motherboard so can't say. From what I understand if it will recognize the older k3 chances are it will work with the K3+. Over at AMD ZONE FORUMS there are several threads listing motherboards that support K3+

Well good news for me. If your system can detect the K6-3 processors with your current bios you don't NEED to update your bios. Well my MBD as-is supports the K6-3 processor. Its an Antec MB5987. Its a work-in-progress system and'll be up end of the week. I'll let anyone know if this board runs and how well with it. (Retail $90, I got it for $35).

Hey Donuts....where on Amd Zone forums can you find the mobo's ..can you post the link...because everytime I go there now the forum are always posting empty threads (ever since they changed out servers, their site has been screwed up)

I have a old Abit PX5. Anyone know if this wll work? About a year ago I asked their Cust Svc if it would be compatile with a K6-2 and they said no, even though voltage was within .1v .... Any guesses?

StockJock, Have to admit I'm a bit slow at this stuff. I don't know how to link a page to a thread. I sent the link via your e-mail. Hope this helped.

Looks like PCLiquidator is out of the cpu. It's no longer listed on their page. I ordered on the 6th. I tried to use my tracking number. It says the order has not been filled or the information has not placed in the system. Starting to think there's a problem. I e-mailed them and I'll pass on any info. I get.

I ordered my K6-3+ on the 6th too, I hope pcliquidator didn't sell more then they actually had in stock, I really want this processor.

I just got a reply (quickly I might add) to an email I sent asking about my order, placed over the weekend. She said they got more orders than they expected over the weekend, and they are trying to get more of the processors. They are going to get back to me tomorrow with my order status. 🙁
