The operating voltage spec is 1.9V - 2.1V, with absolute max of 2.2V.
The maximum power dissipation is 16W @ 2V.

The K6-3+ line of CPU's begin at 500 MHZ, so this one is not a .18 micron "+", but a normal K6-3. A REAL K6-2+ for $89 is here: www.vegapc.com.

I see no reason to doubt that these are K6-III+.
According to AMD's web site again, the K6-III+ are available at 450MHz.

I can't overclock over 450 so that's of no concern to me.

The newer, cooler running chips are 0.18-micron.
For use with an IOpener, cool running is what is needed.

That must be a misprint, or they don't know what they are talking about. They don't make a .25 micron K6-III+. Not only does AMD's website say it is .18 micron, but I don't think that they could lower the voltage to 2.0v on a .25 micron die, especially with the K6-III core which has 256K of L2 cache.

OK I think I have a good theory on why their site says it is .25 micron. If you look at it, it says it is .25 under the section that says, &quot;Mobile AMD-K6® Processor Features&quot;. They probably just did a copy/paste job from a different page for the mobile K6. Actually, the whole description page just talks about the value of the K6 266 or 300 and doesn't ever mention the K6-III+, so I think my theory is correct.

If you buy from them, as I just did , you can be certain that if it is in fact a K6-III+ it is .18 micron and runs at 2.0v and runs cool.

I just took the plunge and ordered one too. I hope it makes a noticeable improvement form 350 MHz k6-2 to this 450 k6-3+ !

If you enlarge &amp; inspect the pictured CPU carefully, you can see that it is a 2.4v core/3.3v I/O, 8 9929CPDW, C1998 AMD, Malay, AMD K6-III (no +). Also, the art work on the genuine K6-2+ at www.vegapc.com is completely different. If the description doesn't reflect what they are selling, then how do you really know WHAT they are selling?

I physically SAW them, and they had K6-3+ clearly engraved. What more you need to know so that you stop being so suspicious.?

It had 2.0 Core/3.3 IO engraved as well.

Overstock has the PMS5185 for it at $39 (before coupons).

If you don't have a motherbord for it, I would recommend buying a Celeron and cheap 810 based S370 board. Of course, Duron is nicer but you still cannot find a cheap board for it.

be carefull on k6-3+. They do not work in all motherboards - check out amdzone forum for a list of possible working motherboards. My k6-3+ 450 does 560 without increasing the voltage. I suspect if i wanted it to that it would do 600 (at least) and maybe as much as 672 (112 bus and lucky).

the list of supported boards is in the AMDZone BBS listings... there are quite a few that do work with the k62+ the k63+ seems a little more spotty... of course the k63+ seem harder to find...

this looks very interesting... I currently runs a K6-2 500 OC to 550 at default voltage (2.2V). My Tyan S1590S mobo does support the 2.0V required for the K6+ lines, so I was wondering if upgrading to this CPU would be worth it for me????

And all the people who ordered... please post your result!!! like their condition, overclocking potential, etc.
