Are there any adjustments that need to be made (voltage, multiplier, etc.) to a pentium oem mobo to handle a k6-2 300mhz proc?

The board is an old Gateway oem board (they called it a "Thor" mobo) with an FX chipset for socket 7 and has the latest bios update. Currently it's running a p5-166, but someone donated this k6-2 to me.

you'll need to be able to supply lower than 2.2 volts depending on the speed of the processor. how fast is the K6-2 if it's 400 mhz or higher, in most cases, 400 mhz will be the fastest you can get. this can be done by setting your motherboard to a 2x multiplier (which will set the CPU to 6x).

I've had success using PowerLeap's voltage adapter. I upgraded a friend's Compaq Presario 4402 from a Pentium 133 to a K62-400 and it works like a champ. You can buy their PL-ProMMX adapter separately since you already have the CPU. It's $49.95.

Thanks guys.
I can't get the voltage to 2.2 or lower with this mobo without some gear like PCAddict suggests. Sounds like the best thing to do may be to buy a cheap mobo and ram or stick with the p5-166.
It's for my Mom&Dad anyway, so it's not like they need anything beyond office apps or netscape.
Should be a good starter pc for them since it's a freebe!
