I was over at a friend's house trying to assist him with some work on the PC for his daughter. The computer had a Pentium 60 MHz chip in it. The fan stopped working a few years ago, so he pulled the heatsink/fan off it and ran it without any coolling. :Q :Q :Q
Those CPUs didn't run too cool either. He was pretty lucky to get such good mileage out of the computer. However, today, it finally wouldn't recognize the any hard drives anymore. Apparently the built-in controller was not functioning in a normal fashion anymore, so we took apart the PC and collected the parts. For a while, I held the Pentium 60 CPU in my hand with fond memories. I remember about 9 years ago when the Pentium 60 CPUs hit the streets. One of my cheap CPU and memory suppliers sold the CPU for about $750.00. Today, we'd be lucky to get $.75 for it. Now, if I just had a time machine to go back 9 years - I would have been able to sell it for $700 and advance back to the current day a richer man.
