<< wait wait wait wait, hold up a sec..
since when did k-mart carry guns? is this just at certain stores or something?
>>

they are usually in the sporting goods section... guns for hunting and stuff.

<< Kmart carries hunting rifles and shotguns. We are not talking assault rifles here. >>

I live in Fairbanks, Alaska, and I did buy my Hungarian "sporting" version of the AK-47 at the local K-mart. Also, I bought my wife's .357 magnum handgun there. The handgun was purchased in December 1997, and the AK-47 about a year later.

After the Columbine High School shootings, K-mart stopped selling handguns at all of its stores. Apparently, Alaska was one of the few states where they were still selling handguns anyway.

I'm pissed at K-mart for removing handguns from their shelves, given that the Columbine shooters used a shotgun, a rifle, *and* a handgun. Now I'm pissed at them for removing the other firearms, given that the terrorists in yesterday's attack were apparently wielding knives. I pretty much boycott K-mart as it is, but I still buy shoes there because it's the only place in Fairbanks that sells cheap shoes.

I knew people that stocked up food, generator and diesel fuel, and ammunition during the Y2K. Such silly bravado!
Terrorist are fanatic, not stupid or at least not stupid enough to attack some jon doe's house.

But then again I wasted money on fast CPU and big heat sink and of course have it overclocked to the max for no other reason but silliness😀

You all bring up an excellent point.
Not 1 handgun was used in this ATTACK....so much for the Liberal gun control hype keeping us safe.

These people buying weapons have every right to do so. Its the actions they take afterward that they will have to live with. Personally i have wanted to buy a new rifle or handgun for about 3 years-(i luv target shooting, excellent hobby). Guess i'll have to wait til all this mess settles down so i don't get branded a "reactionist freak".

it was probably to prevent people from rushing out and stockpiling weapons and ammunition. I'm certain there was alot of that going on, there were some pretty upset people at the stores.

Kmart Removes Guns From Stores

TROY, Mich. (AP) - Kmart Corp. temporarily removed ammunition and firearms from its 2,100 stores nationwide on Tuesday in the wake of attacks in New York and Washington, the company said.

Spokeswoman Julie Fracker said the decision was made Tuesday morning.

``The safety of our customers and our associates is our first priority,'' the company said in a statement. ``Kmart extends its deepest sympathies to the people affected by today's tragic incident.''

Fracker said it wasn't clear how much the move would cost the company. She said the company would monitor the situation to determine when sales would resume.

The terrorist attacked our freedom

isn't one of our freedoms the second amendment
looks like the did exactly what they wanted to do with K-Mart

I am against the removed of guns from the shelves in K-Mart.

Let FREEDOM Ring!

GOD Bless America

L8r,
Chuck
