I bought one at Costco in Jan...was thrilled to get it for $179. This is a great VCR for the money. I have satellite, and recordings in SVHS are great! Even if you don't use the SVHS capability, it records very nicely, even in 6hr mode. One of the BIGGEST advantages is that you can use all the features with the buttons on the UNIT. Great if you cant find / break the remote! If you need a cheap VCR, I would spend the few extra $ to get this over a cheapo ~$70-100 unit.

I owned one of these for 6 months, worked great, I would buy another, if I needed one. My pair of Toshiba VCRs that I've had for 5 years are still going strong. Probably will be the last ones I own, now that I have a DVR. :) Just give me a half dozen 100GB IDE drives, and I'm all set. :)

Sigh...

I bought one of those VCRs last year for $140 from Accompany, and while it's good, its SVHS quality (EVHS, not SVHS tapes) at EP and SP is barely better than the VHS quality from my Panasonic, and the VHS quality is noticeably worse. Another annoyance about it is if you program a recording but the start time has already passed, the program won't start.
