So did you but it? If so, did the rebates print out at the register?

You did not need to send the rebate if you buy it at the store.

I haven't bought it yet since the price is good until saturday, and I'm still comparing it with Kenwood 5 discs progressive scan that Best Buy store sells it for $139 (Kenwood 5-Disc Progressive-Scan DVD Changer with MP3 Playback Capability DV-605). Anyone has any comment for either player?

Too bad...I was thinking it would've been nice to get the rebates on top of that $125 price!

:D Oh well...at least you don't have to mess with the rebates.

My first instinct was "JVC......Ieeeeew", but I might check this out in store. Some folks at the Home Theater Forum say it has some problems with interlacing and film output, but otherwise it's a great player. At this price I feel it's a no brainer purchase.

There's a thread about this over at that stout-walleted forum about this. They make the point that if you have an AMEX BVG card, you can buy it at BB for the rebates but then BVG PM it to buydig.com for $179, bringing the final cost down to a scorching ~$49 before taxes. In PA, my final cost was about ~$64 after factoring in the 1% discount for going through ebates....

Can you provide a link to the reviews?

I think you do, you missed the time they had the price discount yesterday :(:disgust:, and today the price goes back to $279.. but the rebates are still on, and you can also go to the store and get it without the rebate.

"at this price"... Apex makes some pretty good DVD players that are very inexpensive... I think their site is www.apexdigitalinc.com I originally thought they must be junk for the price, but I heard a couple of good reviews and am going to buy a progressive scan dvd player this week (which is why I was reading this thread).
I think this is a great price for a player that holds 7 disks. But, for the less.... (lazy?) My father just purchased a progressive scan Apex that plays just about everything (jpg, mp3, cd, cdr, dvd, dvd-r, vcd, etc.) His only complaint was that only 11 characters of the file names show up for the mp3's (and all his mp3's are named artist - title, missing most of the title). I'll try to find out later which model he has, but I'm starting to consider this dvd burner just because I like leaving the dvd's in the player. (I can have some mp3's left semi-permanently in there).

Apex does NOT make a GOOD progressive scan DVD player. For basic functions an Apex will suffice, but for progressive scan output they're awful. This is a great deal on an admirable progressive scan player. The picture quality is going to suck in the DVD extras and the interlacing will be wrong sometimes, but it'll blow away any Apex deal of the week, and a LOT of other players, in everything else. No question.

Forgive me for saying this, but your father doesn't sound like the type who owns an HDTV so why was he even in the market for a progressive scan DVD player? If he doesn't have an HDTV now, he's certainly NOT set for the future with an Apex.

Damn it. Can anyone else confirm the cheap in-store price?

How do multi-disc players work? Do they automatically switch to the next disc at the end of a movie, or do you have to tell it to do that? I know most movies are on one DVD these days, but I'm thinking if I'm watching VCDs or something of that sort ... it'd be nice to have it auto-jump to the next disc.

im sure it varies from company to company, but my apex ad-703 skips to the next disc on audio cds but not on movies.

I'm not that concerned with progressive scan, since I have a crappy RF-only TV. I'm more interested in Audio, and this seems like a good deal for DVD-Audio, no? I bought my first DVD-A disc last week (Yes' Fragile) and love the DTS sound on my standard player, but would like to hear the DVD-A format, too. Make the H/K receiver earn its pay for once.

Is anyone familiar with DVD-Audio? Are there certain specs that must be met (like "certified for. . .", or can quality vary greatly?

I agree...my bedroom player just gave up the ghost (series of clicks, then "read error" on every disc) so if I can get this in store I might just pick it up for the living room, then move the living room player into the bedroom.

I just called the store in Wilmington, DE - they said the price is 279.99 right now - and NO rebates...

Oh well, would have been nice to pick this thing up...
