ashcroft? why so he can continue his tirade against freedom of expression, and religion? yeah let's put the zealots where they can do the most harm.

Uh, not in the currently defined sense of the term "law professor". :)
Until about 1940 or so most folks READ the law under a lawyer.

Right. I'm sure some of those old school justices had some strange backgrounds. It just seems like today there's more of a track for becoming a SC justice. But I could be wrong... she just doesn't seem like a fit to me.
