Justice Hillary
Hold on to your, ah, cloaks. One scenario making the rounds in Washington is that if Sen. John Kerry is elected, he'll nominate New York's Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton to the U.S. Supreme Court. There she'd judge as a "law-and-order feminist" to build credentials to eventually run for president after Kerry. Sound crazy? Senate and even White House insiders said some moderate and female Republican senators might go for it and OK the confirmation.

If given the unsavory choice between Hillary and some Evangelical Whack Job I'd hold my nose and choose Hillary.

Not going to happen. Oh he may nominate her, but the Reps would want to see it I think. Party whips would come into play and no one would give her a the time of day. They would get a chance to rip into her like no one has ever. Best of both worlds. Shred her, and use her as political hay for the present and future.

This would be a plus for the Reps.

That's a fine place for her. It will keep her out of country western bars and the White House.

Evangelicals are a threat to our nation IMHO. It's well enough to be a good Christian, but when you start forcing your beliefs down the throats of nonbelievers you have crossed the line.

Yep.
The next President has the chance to potentially fill 3 vacancies. Do we really want Bush selecting these people? It's positively Orwellian. It's a nightmarish scenario.

Read my lips: :lips: No more Clintons. John Ashcroft would be an awesome supreme court nominee, but I would support Dick Cheney. Dick Cheney before he dicks you! ;)

But seriously, who on Earth would support Hillary? Hillary, the White Water Wonder. Hillary, complicit in the death of several people, most notably the 'suicide' of confidant Vince Foster. Hillary, hider of files from the Rose Law firm, after the stuate of limitations ran out. Hillary, orderer of FBI files on congressmen. Hillary, mastermind of attempted nationilized healthcare. Hillary, who turned $1,000 into $100,000 in cattle futures overnight. Hillary, who as a young newbcheese, attended the impeachment hearings of Richard 'Dick' Nixon and would oneday see the impeachment of her husband. And on and on and on...

Hillary, yeah right.

I would support Dick Cheney as he would last maybe 2 or 3 years tops before he had to quit due to his heart condition.

Ashcroft would make a better Grand Inquisitor than a Supreme Court Justice.

It's just food for thought. No doubt that situation would ever arise just like Ashcroft and Cheney would never be nominated either.

Well we do have "qualified" justices like Clarence Thomas . . . Clinton couldn't be much worse.

It is right-wing fear mongering, pandering to the ignorant. She is as qualified to be on the SC as she is to be, oh, say a heart surgeon.

If I were a Republican Senator I'd make sure she made it onto the Supreme Court. Better on the Court than appointing the Court.

that'd never happen. a jump from Senate -> Supreme Court -> Presidency would be pretty stupid.

the SC has a lot more influence than the President.

I'm not sure if Hillary has the legal background to make it anymore. She hasn't been working as a judge, attorney, or a professor in a long time.

One of our best (maybe THE best) Supreme Court Judges never served a day as an appeals court or trial judge. Who was it? :) :) :)

And now that the American Bar Association's recommendation has been effectively neutered, it's entirely possible. (notice I never said it was a good idea)

As a whole, perhaps, but the Supreme Court is 9 people.

Hillary would get smacked down by the Senate, and rightfully so. I'd like to see Ashcroft there though.

Yup, disagreeing with his politics somehow makes him "unqualified". He has a solid resume if you ask me.
