Justice Department is actually doing something productive, as opposed to the Microsoft trial.

I agree. It was kind of a silly thing to go to court in the first place with all the other things we should be worrying about, but now that it has been ruled on I hope it stands. It is more proper, in my opinion, the new way.

The "new" way is also the original way

This nation was founded as a Christian nation, and it's sad to see people spitting in the face of the founding fathers by proclaiming Atheism the nation of the land.

The nation was founded as a free nation. Many came to escape religious prosecution. It is sad to see people spitting in the face of these ideals which are the real foundation of this country.

I wish someone would actually read the friggin consitution.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances

There is NO seperation of church and state. We conviently created something out of nothing because it suited us. The reason for the amendment was not because the founding fathers were afraid of Christians (who they mostly WERE), but the Anglican Church. The Anglican Church had become in effect THE state religion in England. Remember Bloody Mary in history? the persecution of religious groups in Europe? That is the main reason its in there. Notice "or prohibiting the free exercise thereof" Taking the word "God" out of everthing would have been incomprehensible to them.

I am not advocating any particular religion here. Or lack of one, but the fact is that someone used the federal court to promote a specious argument to redress issues that did not involve them. It involved someone else who had NO problem with it. Now many here dislike religion so much that it is OK for this to happen. Well copyright infringement is illegal too. Suppose I know you are downloading software and I decide I think I should sue someone else because you ought not be doing that and have your computer removed. Or you have an argument with your GF and she says something to you I dislike. I sue her because I think it ought to have offended you. Here is the real issue. Dont want to say the pledge their way? Then dont. But if you do, why the hell do I have a right to stick my nose in? Here the government is telling the girl she cannot say it the way she wants. This time it is something you like, but it sets precidents for things I guarentee you wont

there were several senators and congresspeople that said they weren't going to wait around for the courts to decide, they were going to push through a constitutional amendment.

they are doing no such thing. the girl can say whatever she wants, it just can't be taught to her in a certain way.

Id like to see that happen. THE most difficult thing for this country to do is chang the consitution. Its only happened 27 times in our history.

Why does God care more about what we say and what we think we're thinking, than what we do and what out subconcious motives are?

Oh, so what if the teacher WANTS to teach it that way?

It seems that those "spitting in the face of the founding fathers" are those who insist on the religious reference that the same founding fathers chose not to include in the first place. Talk about attempts at revisionism.

There are nearly 100 references to God in the original documents that would lead the the founding of this country. Not once was a fear of an 'All Mighty God' expressed only of a 'State Sponsored Religon.'

Revising these documents is not needed. We have but to use the actual writings of those that created the greatest nation on earth!

Exactly! Too many Christians seem to think that going to church on Sunday saying some "Praise the Lord"s and performing some other rituals, automatically makes them different from others(in God's eyes anyway). These are the same people who blame all problems on the removal of prayer from schools. It's not school prayer, mentioning God in the PoA, or some other reference to a Christian deity that will restore the US to a more Christian viewpoint, it will only happen when Christians start being Christian, so far that doesn't look too encouraging. Atheism didn't push Christianity out of American culture, it merely filled in the void caused by Apostasy/Bankruptcy.
