Wrong. I don't give a rat's fetid backside about party lines on this. And fine, some on the left have spoken out, but not the sources that the average citizen follows, i.e., the msm. In the old Mike Wallace 60 Minutes days, they'd have made an issue out of this and ripped Obama a new one. Now all you see is a reporter on his knees with his head bobbing up and down between Obama's legs.

OK, so condemn it - good. Now go castigate the rest of the party faithful for not doing so.

You guys are so obsessed with trying to hit the other political sports team that you don't even bother to read the thread. Pathetic. I was actually the first person to condemn it but you clowns don't actually care about the policy, only the tribalism.

Monovillage foolishly made some comment about the electoral implications of this policy, saying it helped Obama win... All while ignoring the fact that his opponent supported the same policies.

I have said many times how I dislike Obama's civil liberties stance. The only problem is that Republicans are even worse.

This is sick, but we are so far away from what is good and should be done that it's no surprise any more. It is scary, hopefully the people in the US continue to wake up to the shit that is going on and instead of trying to defend their "team" they start to demand change.

The funny part is that I can see the reasons for this and how something like this should be used. Yet just like everything else it's going to be massively abused and just continue us down this path.

Ferrelgeek, this is on the front page of the NYT, MSNBC, etc, etc.

How many times do these accusations against the media need to be disproven? They DO often display a pro government bias, but it is not dependent on what party controls the government.

Probably not, capture needs to be infeasible.

Although depending on the state, if resources are too tied up having police on expressways with radar guns, it may be infeasible for police to arrest him and bring him to trial, so they may just drone strike him.

Are you guys just speculating or does it say that in the actual documents that drone strikes on American soil is a possibility if law-enforcement resources are tied up?

He is messing with you. It stipulates that arrest needs to be infeasible. It is highly unlikely that such an argument could be made within US borders. This is for people in the mountains of Afghanistan.

I still don't think that makes it better, but you're probably safe watching honey boo boo.

The President is going to need an effective way to go against those treasonous holdouts when they finally confiscate all your guns.:whiste:

If you are doing nothing wrong you have nothing to fear, and as for those innocent collateral casualties, small sacrifice for the greater good.

Maybe then Americans will wake up and start paying as much attention to their elected politicians as they do to their sport/celebrity gods.:colbert:

False. More people vote than watch the superbowl. (voter age eligible obviously).

So where should I be finding the outrage, because I'm not seeing it anywhere in the OP's article linked. It's not like the government just started targeting 'threats' to national security a few days ago. It's just now that they're using robotic drones as oppose to operatives.

But then again I would guess targeted killing of Americans has been going on for years. Just now with drones and below the radar of the american people.

Because the president is asserting the authority to execute US citizens without judicial oversight. This isn't new, you're right, but in the past people said that the guidelines for this power being used were really robust. It appears not, so people are mad all over again.

It denies US citizens due process of law before they are executed.

The memo talks about making this legal, basically they don't get due process because they side with terrorists. Who proves this? An informed official, no trial to prove they are sided with terrorists, but classified intel that we will never get to see.

Moral of the story is to never go hiking in the mountains in the USA, or ever leave the country, because you can become a target.

Thanks for your hyperbolic speculations. Or is it speculative hyperboles? Oy vey.

Just look at eskimospy's posts and you're seeing it.

You can't be this stupid, so why do you bother with posts like this? Every one of my posts has condemned their actions with the one exception of calling you an idiot for apparently trying to tie it to an election where his opponent shared this position.

This is totally insane. I would not feel very safe with the government blowing up part of my neighborhood or making a giant hole in a highway. There is a reason why we dont let the military police our streets. There has always been this taboo of using the military against our own civilians.

It is because of actions like this that civilians need assault weapons. This is like one step from declaring martial law and the military taking over. Do you really want gun control with a crazy government that would conceive of this stupidity. The only way I would consider this is if terrorists were on their way to blow up a power plant or commit an act of terrorism that endangered hundreds or thousands of people.

I will be the first to say both Bush and Obama have vastly overstepped. This is wrong, torture is wrong. Recess appointments when the Senate is not in recess are wrong. Warrantless wiretapping is wrong. Anything that does away with or limits due process and/or checks and balances is a gross abuse of power.

If that's the case, then good; it's about bloody time. I'll admit I've been really busy of late between work and fam, so haven't had a lot of spare time of late. If they really latch onto this and make it a big issue, I'll apologize. The admin needs to be reemed out royally for this.

I still maintain that if it was the McCain of Romney admins, the outcry would be louder.

It would be, The same morons were crying tyranny and hitler under bush but not for obama

Look at how far we've fallen in our mad quest to get terrorists, I can't imagine where another ten years of this insanity will lead. I don't think military strikes against domestic terrorists is too far off. In the grand scheme of things terrorists do very little to us but we've been willing to give so much away.

Don't go on spring break to Cancun kiddies, the President can legally assassinate your ass once you step off American soil. Can you imagine Nixon and LBJ with this power? Kent State would look tame, hell, Jane Fonda would have never made it home alive.

The potential for abuse is scarily immense. There have been so many corrupt administrations. Look at history and pick one. We'll have more in our future too. Sad for America as we keep marching off this cliff chasing terrorists.

Are we going to get spammed by the "war crimes" and "international tribunal" posts like every Bush thread got 6 years ago?

Nah, this is our guy Obama, and we might complain a little about it, but he'll get a pass from the resident lefties while they suck his appendages.

I would'nt say so much pro government but pro status quo.
