I already have what I think I'm going to get in another thread, but just wanted to see what you guys would build for $1000. No monitor, keyboard, mouse or speakers. Oh and it's for gaming.

So all of you are telling me that you could make a better looking system that will offer better performance? When I chose a system, I put the money where I feel is necessary as far as sound, looks, and necessary features that fit me, not the framerates alone. FYI, you will get blistering framerates with a P4 and a 6800GS, tagging it with a nicely polished soundcard. I don't see anything wrong with customizing a balanced gaming rig for a thousand dollars.
It's funny how you like to smack talk, but don't put anything down to counter it.

As far as my sig goes, the only trash talk flying around goes on yourselves.

"" "crack head" "worst rig" blah blah blah.. "" -so my feelings are hurt, so what.

for about the same price you could go better for gaming with a skt939 3200, 7800GT and a nf4 m/b. the soundcard is not really going to help you in the fps area at all is basically a waste on a gaming rig, especially the x-fi when there is a $1000 limit.

lets see some pics of your rig in sig with a paper with the words "fire400 anandtech" in the pic.....

and there was no reason to give a rig suggestion since ricemarine did such a good job.

Get the DFI NF4 ultra for around $85 and save some money on the ram. Use it to get a 3800 or a 165.
