JUst wondering, but how exactly do they make speed bumps?

By piling hot asphalt on top of a road surface, shaping it into a bump and waiting 'till it dries before painting it yellow.

How did you THINK they made them? :)

ancient tradition. involves boiling little children and smearing their remains on the pavement. some say it was also used to ward off evil spirits.

They pour cement on the ground, then use sonme shovel-like tools to shape it into a bump, then wait for it to dry.

Well, how does it hold its shape while waiting to dry? Wouldn't it run out?

Around here, speedbumps are usually the end result of some contractor whose brother is a town official getting a road fixing job. Said contractor is, of course, incompetent, and instead of repairing and repaving the road the correct way, he just piles on more and more patch material until the road resembles the washboard section of GM's test track.

I worked at a factory once. Got loaned out to the carpentry shop. We were sent to make a speedbump in the parking lot. It was too big. A few days later, we had to go remove it, and the assortment of mufflers that mysteriously appeared in the area.
