Just when I was losing all faith in humanity

I was at a new place to get my hair cut today (because apparently my old one had moved out of state) waiting for my turn. This old guy finished getting his hair cut and sat down to get out his wallet to pay. I saw him rummaging around looking for something in there. I kinda glanced at him sideways and saw him counting his money. I saw the sign for how much the hair cut was and noticed that he was $7 short. He checked all his pockets and I just knew he had that "oh shit" feeling inside.

He went up and explained that he was a little short of the bill. I got up, walked over and said I would pay the difference. He was very great full. He told me his name and that if there was anything he could do... I told him not to worry about it, to go enjoy the nice weather and have a nice day.

When my hair cut was done I went up to pay for mine. The other hair cut lady (stylist?) came over. She told me that the lady who had been waiting behind me had paid for my haircut!

What?

Apparently she thought it was so nice that I was willing to cover the other guy's cut that she paid for all of mine! She had already left so I told the stylist to "Please tell her thank you very much." when she saw her again. Turns out she was from several states away and just out here on business

Well - thank you business lady from St. Louis! (because I'm sure you read ATOT)

man, no pics I guess.

I hope you tipped your stylist really really well since you didn't have to pay for the cut. $2 oughta do it.

EDIT: good god people, I forgot where I was. I thought the "really really well" followed by recommending $2 would clue people in on the sarcasm. wow.

that's cool of you and the lady. wish more people would be kind in the same manner. then we wouldn't live in such a stressful society.

You let that bitch one-up your kindness? You should have offered to pay for everyones haircut. That'd teach her.

I know I didn't have anything to drink for lunch...yet this still cracked me up.

Wait a second here....how did you take longer than a woman to get your haircut? (I figure I've got a 99% chance your a guy since this is ATOT)

I've heard of this sort of thing before where it starts a domino effect and one person after another in line will do stuff like that. I think it shows how much people really wish everyone else would be more proactive when it comes to doing favors and just generally being nice. Living in a neighborhood or town that is like that can really make a difference in your every day life.

All of this in St. Louis? Wowzers. You're lucky the guy didn't whip out his piece and waste you when he saw you reaching into your pocket. 😛

J/K of course. Well played by all parties involved.

$2 is a really good tip? That's minimum for me unless they screw something up badly.

That's a joke son. If I tipped a barber $2 (esp if the cut was free) I sure as hell wouldn't go back there again. Not with him wielding a straight razor.

My haircut is $30. I give him a $10 tip because he also cuts my fiancee, her sister, and her mother's hair. Someone who cuts the hair of soo many people you know, well, you have to take care of them.

That's cool, but I bet I could go to any major news site and find an article to make you lose your faith in humanity again.
