Just when I thought Craigslist was the bottom of the barrel

I stumbled upon the Facebook buy/sell/trade group.......

These people seriously are potato powered mouth breathers aren't they? No matter what region I browse through, they are all the same.

When referencing potato powered mouth breathers, one simply MUST link to an example of said PPMBs. Humor us with a link to one of these, please !

There should be a law against starting a thread like this without linking to at least one humorous example. It's just bad form.

I've had nothing but great experiences with Craigslist. Like anything else, you have to be smart about who you deal with, and you can tell a lot about someone starting with their listing, then more with some preliminary correspondence.

From the local Craigslist in the past two years I've purchased a beautifully kept guitar, a kitchen table and chairs, a cable modem and a bike. Nothing but great deals and all from very nice people.

I've had better luck with craigslist than I have with Facebook lists. Some of the stuff and people on there..... Just wow....

I took a quick look at what appears to be the local Facebook buy/sell page for the town where I live. I must be missing something, because a) there's not an awful lot there b) many of the posts there are just links to Craigslist listings and c) Facebook's organization and page layout are really poorly suited for this use.

I don't understand why anyone would even bother looking there.

Ours is more like a forum or chatbox. No external linking and no businesses. 90% of the postings are businesses. The rest seem people who barely grasp the use of a mobile device or pc, lack basic spelling and grammar skills. They also don't seem to understand the concept of supply, demand and the definition of used.

"Brand new only used a few times" is repeatedly posted. Along with pictures that make the item look more worn out than Madonna.

I've lost count of the incredible deals on the local CL.
Most recent? 20x Logitech G15 (v1s and v2s) + 1x Logitech G19 for $130 total 🙂

Terminal Reality in Lewisville went kaput and left a lot of good stuff behind.

I thought I could buy my kid's love and distraction, but it didn't work.

I still prefer craigslist over failbook. Failbook seems to be better at quick sales though.

Everything I've sold on CREEPslist resulted in the same thing. Guy makes deal over the phone and shows up and tries to buy the item minus 1 bill. If it was $25 they bring a $20. If it's $60 they show up with $50.

Lady at work needed her laptop fixed and some guy contacted her on there. She has a habit of looking everyone up online that she meets or deals with, he was a registered sex offender and had all the looks of a windowless van owner.

Another friend had her bike stolen a few weeks ago. Found it for sale on CREEPslist she brought the cops with her on the purchase.

That thing is festering with slimebaggery

That's just wheeling and dealing. You can say no.
They have the money, they are just lying trying to get you to go lower.
Call their bluff. It's a waste of their time too, and more than likely, it's their gas they're burning to get there.

This ^

I had a guy buy my old garden tractor. Had it listed for $300 FIRM. Guy said ok and came to check it out, said he only brought $200. I laughed and said see ya later. He said aww common $250, I kept laughing and put it back in the shed. He finally came back over to me and said, here's the $300. If he didn't have the $300, he would have wasted his time.

When people try that trick, I just say no thanks and walk away like you did. If often works out, but not always. I've had people get really angry that I wouldn't take a reduced price, which is why I always meet in a public place like a Walmart parking lot. The deals on craigslist are too good not to pursue, which is why I keep using it. Lately I've had great luck with nice, reasonable people selling stuff at great prices.

You can't judge condition from a craigslist description or pics.
If you drive 20min. to see an item and it is in worse condition than expected, why not offer less?
You can avoid that by listing with a good description and good photo, with emphasis on the problems (photos of all blemishes, etc).

Not quite. If you read what I said the deal was already made on the phone as to the amount and they reach out with the money and try to short me. I know how to wheel and deal and you do it like a man not like a low life loser. You want to negotiate lets do it. You wanna be a walking vagina and just try to bitch out on the funds that is not negotiating.

The walmart parking lots around here are good places to get shanked.

I list well I believe, so if they expect to pay less they better have a damn good reason. If they prove their point well enough, I'll listen and deal. If they just pull the typical "I only brought $x" before they even look, I walk.

When I'm buying things, I'm also smart enough to understand that If I go there and it's not what I expect, I walk away. I factor in my time and effort to get there in what I'm willing to pay. I hammer that out before even agreeing to meet. I also let them know if it isn't as they describe, I'll either offer less or just say no thanks and leave.
