Just watched Troy...

Where was Poseidon and the rest of the gang? And Achilles doesn't seek out Hector by himself, he corners him in battle!

Troy was only mildly entertaining to me. The best thing about it was Eric Bana's performance. Everything else plain sucked, especially Orlando "I'm a pussy" Bloom who couldn't have been more of a pussy in that movie. I would have at least expected a little background on Achilles, who's the main character of the movie, and at the VERY least, would have expected the movie to explain why his heel was his weakness*

If you want a good historic type movie, watch gladiator.

*for those that don't know why Achilles' weakness was his heals, it was because when he was a baby, his mother held him by the ankle as she dipped him in the river Styx (which is supposed to make you pretty much invincible, thus why he was the greatest warrior of the time). But because she was holding onto his ankle, it was not rendered invincible, thus is heal was as weak as any other humans.

^ it's all a myth anyway... why would it matter ?

Because even as a stand alone movie, it doesn't give you nearly enough background information as to why the main character is the best warrior ever or why his heel is his weakness.

Because mythology, like the Bible, is full of logical fallacies. However, both of them tell us a lot about the foundations of our culture and society.

I saw it last nite on DVD.

What BS. They make the Pitt chracter into a "Rambo God" who can kill an army by himself. What's his kill ratio for crissakes?!

Again, it's Hollywood pandering to the elephantine actor egos by scripting such unrealistic characters. Tom Cruise started this trend. And it's not getting any better.

I'm glad the market recognizes this by not going to the theaters.

I'm glad Troy bombed.

supposedly a poison arrow killed him. also, it was supposed to happened right after he killed hector and desecrated the body. paris was supposed to of shot a single poison arroved (guided by apollo) and hit him in the heel, killing him. because of this, the greeks (who were going to attack at hector's death) pulled back and went with the trojan horse idea.

in the movie, he doesn't die that early. also, the arrow in the heel doesn't kill him, the 3 arrows in the chest did.

Have you even heard of Achilles before? He was virtually invincible. Hollywood did not make up the part about him decimating armies.

knew it wouldnt live up to Gladiator standards, so happily got it on DVD and watched it in the knowledge that i was fed, drunk and listening full blown 5.1 surround......and i mean full blown..lol.

Action flick with a cheesy love story so Brad can get his keks off and get in some fondling.......

Worth buying cheap and watching when u want some violence but your bird wants some romance...lol
