Whoever doesn't think that movie has an anti-semitic flavor is in denial. The people he used to play the Jewish leaders looked like they crawled out of a 1940's Der Stürmer cartoon, and that's without getting into all the other stuff.

This is not meant to be a thread on the religious aspect of the movie. I'm just looking at his cast of actors.

Yes, I'm Jewish. But just look at the features of the people he used to play the different roles. Jesus and his crowd were all good looking people. The Jewish leaders looked like a nazi cartoon.
 
Welp, didn't make me think any different of Jews, but I guess it's open to interpretation. Mel Gibson has a huge incentive to piss off Jews after all, being in the business that he's in. I've always known him to be a hateful man, even hating entire people groups for no apparant reason.

It's ancient Aramaic, and suprisingly enough they got it pretty much correct. (I have studied the language for years, it's the language of the Talmud).

It's antisemitic because the new testament is anti-semitic.
And yes, Jesus was jewish, they chopped his ham.

The jewish were awaiting a new messias, jesus claimed to be it. Some believed him, some didn't.

And i say again, the bible* is anti-semitic.

Well I didn't want to get into the whole religious aspect of it. I attended a rabbincal seminary for 8 years, and I guarantee I could argue this stuff the entire night, but that's not what I wanted to do. I'm just looking at the characters he used to play the different parts.

way to make stuff up. Half of the NT is about how the new Christians are still having trouble believing the Gentiles are as GOOD as the Jews.

No, the movie is new testament accurate according to Gibson's interpetation. But I wasn't even talking about this stuff! I was just looking at his character cast.

Completely agree. I hate movies distorting facts for selling better or being easier on some people.

Jagec: It's been a few years since i read it, but i'm sure, it's anti-semitic.

Presence: I believe he is just portraying them as they are portrayed in the book. But i have to admit, i lost all respect for Gibson. I can't say if he's anti-semitic. I doubt it, though he did make a movie about the christ so he must be very religious...

Let's stop arguing the age old argument about who killed Jesus already. I'm not trying to have a religious debate here. Just look at the faces of the guys he used to play the Jewish leaders.
 
I watched it last night too, but I'm completely clueless about Christianity and Judaism (I'm a Hindu), so a lot of the stuff was lost on me (besides the flesh flying spectacle). I had so many questions while I was watching it but cant think of them right now

Just grow the fvck up and let it go. It's a FUSKING MOVIE for christ's sake. :roll: Who gives a flying four letter word for copulation whether it's anti semetic or not. If you don't like it, by all means don't fvcking watch it. But don't get in the way of those of us who DO like the movie and aren't stumbling over something so childish as beating the semite horse.
