I love a good non-cheesy drama that focuses on character development, emotions and raw dialogue. GF rented it and it fit the bill nicely.

---spoiler alert!---

This movie was fvcking depressing as hell. That at-home abortion was so god damn disturbing. I related to the movie because it focused on going through mundane adulthood life which got them in quarter-life crisis as they lost their hopeful optimism.

That mathematician dude was fucking awesome. His words were so true that pierced the Wheeler's hearts. And just when you thought he couldn't say anything worse, he did it again by saying "I'm glad I won't be that baby."

April was bat shit crazy. When she performed a self-administered abortion, it reminded me how mentally sick animals hurt their young. People are no different when they're sick in the head.

I guess I'm sort of rambling whatever comes to my head. I enjoyed it for sure.

Anyone else seen it? Your thoughts?

Saw it a while back so I forgot some of the nuances. But yes, overall stellar picture. I expect Winslet to act so no surprise there; DiCaprio has proven himself several times in the past but it was still great to see him pull off those high-intensity bouts of rage onscreen. Brilliant acting and an interesting trainwreck of a marriage to observe. The 'Look Closer' tagline from American Beauty would suit this movie as well. Just as brutal but with more explosive rage and a little less insanity.

And the last scene with the old couple was hilarious. Easy movie to recommend. I can imagine someone not liking the movie (different preferences) but only the most hyper-critical can actually find fault with the movie's execution.

I gotta give it to Leo. He was a sissy ass purtay boy pansy back in Titanic and The Beach days.

We all know he's grown himself into one bad ass actor that successfully shed off the teen bop image.

I started noticing it in Gangs of New York. Then Catch Me If You Can, then Aviator... then I knew Leo could get a man's approval when I saw Blood Diamond. Fucking bad ass. The Departed was good as well.

The abortion itself is shown off-camera, but it's still god damn VERY heavy-handed to watch.. she went through a complete melt down on the night prior and the next morning she's eerily a model wife.. the house is meticulous clean, makes perfect breakfast, etc... You can FEEL she's about to do something bat shit crazy.. it's like a calm before the storm.

After husband leaves and she's alone, she goes to the bathroom and lays couple of thick towels.. then you know what she's about to do.... she takes out the rubber balloon with the tube and prepares a bucket of hot water.

The next shot we see her slightly fucked up, slowly walking down the stairs. You can tell she had aborted the baby. The camera shows her rear showing the blood-drenched dress... and the dripping blood onto the carpet.

Ugh, it gave me the fucking creeps.

He's a ridiculously good actor but I think his looks hold him back. He looks too young, even w/ the facial hair so i think he cant pull off certain roles and can be miscasted into others.

He does look young but I don't think it's holding him back. I mean look at the triple-A movies I just listed. He's doing great.
