Just watched Minority Report & K-19 Widowmaker (possible spoilers)

I got about twenty DVDs for Christmas, and just finished watching these two and am now starting to watch "The Rock".

They were both great movies, but I'd have to say I liked K-19 more even though I am a sci-fi fan.

What did you guys think?

Minority Report IMO is a lot better than K:19. First of all, K:19 reminded me of like a documentary; it was just too wierd and boring for me but very good still. Minority Report had a lot of action and I loved the story line. 🙂

Minority Report
a) What was the effect of those halo's, and if it was blissful, why were they dreaded?

K-19 The Widowmaker
a) How did the guy who spent 18 minutes near the reactor survive? Those who spent 10 could barely walk out, so how could he survive in similar type condition?

I think the halos let them control you or immobilize you until they threw them in the pod.

I'm a big History Channel fan, so to me the documentary was more of an added bonus.

AZGamer, you might want to add the word "spoiler" to your thread as I haven't seen K-19, and you told me more than I want to know :|

Wowzers. I just watched that exact combo a week ago. I liked K-19 better. Minority Report was very good, but it was a bit creepy.

K-19 was one of those films that was painfull to watch. Those people getting radiation poisoning one after another started to make me sick...

The computers Tom Cruise used in Minority Report featured an absolutely ridiculous user interface. I mean, what the hell is all that arm-flailing madness? Aerobics-while-you-work? You'd think if technology had progressed as far as the movie had suggested, then computers would have used some sort of iris-tracking or other movement-efficient mechanism to move windows around. This ranks down there with the "This is Unix. I -KNOW- this!" silliness from _Jurassic Park_.

How about realize it's a movie and stop being so damn pedantic about it? How could you possibly manipulate objects with your eyes as efficiently as you could with your hands?

Btw, pilots have had the technology to track their eye movement for years.

I thought, as a creative element, the computers were awsome. Granted, they may not be realistic, but it was damn cool to see what Spielburg thought the future would be like. Plus, what's the fun in watching someone stare at a monitor and move everything with their eyes?
