I think it's within the realm of possibility, but we'll probably end up creating a hybrid version using bits and pieces of preserved DNA mixed with DNA from reptiles. ::shrug::

That was a great book (as are most of Crichton's books), but the movie was terrible (as are most of the movies made from Crichton's books), IMHO.

I've read that scientists say it is feasible but recovering usable dinosaur DNA after all of those millions of years from a mosquito is quite hard to do.

Well, the first movie was by far the best and most enjoyable of the three I'd say.

Yes. I'd say we're perhaps 5-7 years from seeing one. Of course, as cloning becomes more prevalent it's possible I guess that we'll see laws regulating what species can be cloned/brought back and for what purposes. So who knows.

i think it'd be damn near impossible to either (a)find a preserved mosquito that just happened to have dino blood in it's stomach, or (b)find a preserved mosquito with dna intact after 65 million years

i hope so, i'd love to see a 30 foot tall killing machine,

no wait, on 2nd though, i hope they never recreate them

not likely, the dna in a mosquito for example is degraded and fragmented, not to mention it would most likley have blood from several animals in it.
without having a complete gene map of the dna sequence it would be pretty much impossible to try and recreate a viable dna string from fragments.
maybe something like a mammoth that they find frozen, but not dinos.

that's so crazy! i just did too for the first time in a couple years!!!! that's a tough question......we've cloned eachother so far, or getting very close.....

Actually they recently found a dung beetle with enough DNA in it to clone a whole dinosaur. I believe it contained the DNA of a yet unknown dinosaur, whose fossil had not even penis been discovered yet. They are currently debating where they should go from this point.

What should be under debate is how that word slipped in there....Fossilized dinosaur genitalia? :Q

There's still chances of finding a preserved dinosaur. Whether in a peat bog or a frozen are or something like that. As long as it wasn't fosilized there's a good chance of getting enough usable dna to clone with. Long shot but still possible.

I think I'm the only person here that really liked ALL of the Jurassic Park movies. I own all three on DVD and watch them regularly.

People lose focus; they forget about their IMAGINATION. You have to lose yourself in the movie. Pretend it's real and you'll be scared. :Q

Movies are the best thing since sliced bread.

I would like to see a link to that. When I last read something of this, there was not enough dino DNA collectively in the entire world to begin thinking about cloning. Would be interesting if true.

I hear when you're subconsiously thinking of something you tend to include it in your conversations, or in this case posts. :Q 😀
