One of my all-time favorites. It's a great homage to the Shaw Brothers / Run Run Shaw Chinese sword & sorcery movies I saw as a kid (in LA and SF chinatowns). It's also a great perofrmance by Kurt Russel semi-parodying John Wayne :)

If you have netflix, there are a few good Hong Kong sword & sorcery movies out, like "Bride With White Hair" and "Chinese Ghost Stoty 1". Also great fun (though set in modern HK) is "The Heroic Trio" and its sequel "The Executioners."

My brother in law was a body double for one of the guys in the good gang....... not a major role guy but he is always in the martial arts movies :D

That is definitely a great movie, and just one of the several great John Carpenter movies starring Kurt Russell (I think The Thing is my favorite).

lol, i loved watching that movie on tv. they used to play it all the time.

i swear they stole that electric guy with the chinese guy hat and put him in mortal kombat.


you can buy it on dvd, i saw it at best buy for like $10.

Yeah! I played Mortal Kombat before watching the movie and when I saw that electric guy I was like "RAIDEN!!!!'

One of my all time faves too :) I have the two disk DVD set of it.

Especially the "battle" at the end with Egg using the mystical nintendo-controller style magic.

yeah.. i got the 'collector's edition' on dvd..... extra scenes makes it even better!

the very end of the movie sort of alluded to a sequel, but i've given up on it by now. maybe one day...

definitely a nice movie. :)
