OK, so I enjoyed the movie up until the twist, I'll put spoiler tags around it...
OK, so let me get this straight. Summer breaks up with Tom around day 288.....and is married to someone else by day 450ish? Plus she's engaged to that guy by what? Day 400? That makes no sense to me.
I get that her whole character was about spontaneity and not wanting to get hurt and all. I also get the point about just 'knowing' when you want to be with someone, and knowing what love is....but really, less than a couple months later? Even if she wasn't into Tom that much, doesn't that seem odd?

I was really getting into the movie, and so was my gf who I watched it with. I figured out beforehand that we've been together for 489 days so she got a kick out of that. That ending though was really jarring, and made me think....It's funny because everything Zoey Deschanenalenalnal's character was saying resonated with me....especially the part about not being sure about someone...I'm actually finding myself needing time to think about where I want things to go with my gf. le sigh

I couldn't enjoy the movie because both main character were the epitome of the types of people I could never stand to be around for more than 5 minutes.

Yeah - I kept expecting to find out she had been cheating on her fiance with him

Not the worst chick flick I have ever seen. The unusual format of the story telling plus the twist was a nice suprise.

the main character guy in the movie is such a girl what a pansy

What I don't understand is why didn't he sit her down at some point and just lay it out like "OK, I get that you're worried about commitment because of what happened with your parents, but if we enjoy each others company, why let that ruin it" and also her character, I mean, even if at the start you said you didn't want anything serious....I mean after like 8 months the guy CLEARLY loves you and is WAY into you...shouldn't you revisit that with him? Just out of decency? I mean, I guess those traits make both the characters very human

(675) Days of Summer wasn't a great title, so they had to compress the timeline a bit.

I actually liked the movie, and the main characters. They definitely aren't the type of people I'd like in real life, but they were entertaining characters.

caught it last nite. its ok. funniest part was the 'literal **** on face' line

if u combine this movie with the Notebook, its my life story

The reason he didn't is because he's a pansy.

As for why she didn't become his girlfriend, well, IMO Summer was never really that into him in the first place. Remember the end where we relive all those "fun" moments to see that Zooey wasn't having as much fun as we thought she was.

Also, remember we're seeing everything from the guy's point of view. Still, even so, the guy comes off as clingy and needy, supplanting himself for the benefit of the relationship. Every time Summer said she wasn't looking for anything serious the guy probably backed off for a bit so she wouldn't break up with him.

which doesn't make for much of a story really which is the problem.

Yeah I agree, I also think the fact that he wasn't pursuing what he really wanted (architecture) made her distance herself a bit, since he wasn't being true to himself.

You're right though, when they do the flashbacks it looks like she isn't having quite as much fun as him..Still though she seemed to enjoy his company. I just don't get how she ends up married to someone that she couldn't have known for more than 6 months at the time of marriage...that's usually a sort of red flag.

While I love Zoe, I think 'Autumn' was hotter.

The dude she ended up with looked like a straight laced anti-summer. Seemed dumb.
