I have just spent the better part of two hours trying to fix a mistake made while trying to find the best components that I could at the lowest possible price. I was told that the boards were the best palce to do this. I am new to the boards and I breached etiquitte by working on a deal for a week, then having another trader offer me the same equipment for the same price. I made a deal with the new trader. A little while later the same day, the original trader that I was trying to do business with PM me and the deal was back on.

Admittedly, I was in the wrong not getting back to the second trader sooner. I PM the second trader 3 days later to tell him that I had a sweeter deal. He flew off the handle and posted to the forum immediately that I was an "unethical trader" and that the Anandtech community should steer clear of me.

This trader never gave me a chance to make things right or to explain. My point is this:
Everyone makes mistakes, we are all human and faulted, but we do not necessarily deserve to be crucified for them. We all deserve a chance to make things right before having our name smeared before the whole BBS community.

I am a man of my word and I have done everything in my power to make things right. I have bought both components in a effort to do the right thing. The above mentioned trader has since retracted his original statement about me, but I fear that irreperable damage has been done to my reputation at Anandtech. After all, once you post to the BBS, it is out there for everyone to see. It cannot be taken back, the damage is done when it is read and replied to.

I would appreciate any and all feedback. Thank you for your time and indulgence.

In my opinion things happen and while people may immediately fly off the handle you shouldn't let that affect you too much. Obviously it would have been far nicer and ideal if the parties involved let you explain everything but that didn't happen. There are a lot of people trading on Anands and I doubt your prior experience will come up again (unless you make another mistake and someone starts a bashing thread on you).

I wouldn't worry about it. I'd try to start trading again and make sure I felt each move was appropriate. Because of the number of people trading here you shouldn't have a hard time selling things to other people (people other than the one(s) who are/is made at you). Just continue on as normal and you will build a solid track record.

Good luck!

I say, dont worry about it. You did the right thing, esp coz you bought both. Just to prove my point, I'll rate you with a 10.

My question though, is, what are you going to do with those 2 boards?

Oops! Looks like you may have turned your ratings off fearing a deluge of 1's?

Don't stress about it! Mistakes happen, and as long as you know that you have done wrong, then thats all that matters! You should contact that person and tell him to say that he is sorry and that what he did was irrational. He was probably angry and wanted his own back on you becasue you went and found a better deal, and thus he didn't get the business. But as long as you can prove that you are the right one then thats OK.

Good Luck with sorting out he problem.

Albert.

At the time, I was still upset by the BS that was happeming to me. I have since gotten over it and moved on.
