Discussion Just want to confirm that you cannot dump data from an encrypted (screen locked) Android phone

Hi guys, I would like to confirm that the data on your phone cannot be used, access or get dumped if it has screen locked? My phone just had its screen died and it may still have warranty, I just do not want the thought of technicians possibly dumping data from phones. My phone has screen lock and I understand Android automatically encrypts data on your phone if you placed a screen lock on it.

I'm pretty sure that JUST setting a screen lock does not encrypt the phone. That's a separate, additional step.

It's not enabled by default IIRC.

Thanks guys for the reply, I have checked previously and it says that Android has encryption enabled by default. I will double check again on a similar phone just to be sure.
