I work a M-F 8-5pm schedule... and I don't have any off days available to use, because I had to use them at thanksgiving for my wife to have major surgery.

I come to find out that yesterday (his wedding is in 8 weeks) his wedding is at 3pm on a Friday, and the rehearsal is at 5pm the day before. So now I have to figure out how to get 1.5 off days in the next 8 weeks.

I earn 1 day off for every 2 weeks earned 😀

Though I had to start out negative due to a long vacation just after starting. But oh well, I've since made it up.

Also, if there is a wedding on a Friday, it's because they are trying to save money. Simple as that, Saturday was too expensive for them. As someone that had to do a wedding myself, I will tell you that... they broke yo.
 
OP, do you have any leverage to work from home?

If you can work from home, you don't need to do the whole routine of taking kids to day care, etc.. Then you can start working as soon as you wake up (5:00am, if needed).

Also, I can work in my fucking car while tethering if my wife is driving for fucks sake.
 
Talk to your buddy first, tell him the medical situation had used up all your time and they are tough on that sort of thing. Then, tell him it's your fault, but you hadn't even thought of what day it was on and just figured it would be a Saturday. Ask him what you guys are gonna do...hopefully you can just show up to the reception and have free drinks 😉

My wife has a similar thing voming up she wants me to go to a wedding with a younger girlfriend that is a one way drive of 3 hours on a weekend even.

I'm going to find a way to bow out of that one gracefully.

Was her surrogate daughter for awhile more or less, though she is a real little hotty.

Nah, I've been through 2 divorces in the past, don't need anymore.
 
Just tell your friend your vacation situation, and mention the fact that hes getting married during a work day. If he isnt understanding of your situation, maybe you wernt friends enough to actually be in the wedding party in the first place.
