Instead of me connected at 100mb, I'm connected to my school's network at 10mb.

Why is this, and how do I get it back to 100?

IS your schools network 100? ere u getting 100 before? Check the drivers, check your cabling and force it to 100 instaed of auto in it's properties.

yes, i was getting 100 before

it was set to auto detect
so then i changed it to 100

and then the onboard lan would say that the network cable is unplugged
and then i tried all of the different settings (10, 10 full duplex, 100, 100 full duplex, auto detect) and now all of them will say that the network cable is disconnected

btw this is a ecs k7s5a pro

Def. sounds like it could be a bad cable. If the cable is not in PERFECT codition, then it won't be abe to perform at 100mb.
Got get yourself a new cable my friend and let us know what happens. That is the 1st step in troubleshooting this.

I know that some NIC's are able to handle a slightly bad cable better than others. That might be the case here.
