:( Just unboxed my new iPad 2 - stuck pixels, but Apple is awesome and replaced it.

It's nice and green and stuck at the top, so I always see it near the top. I bought it at an Apple store in NJ, can I take it to a different store to swap or return?

I know none of the stores in NY have any in stock, and I don't want this one. Will I have to eat the 15% restocking fee?

This fricken sucks, if they charge me the restocking fee, I am going to do a chargeback on my credit card for it.

I was so damned happy to finally have it too. It was used a whopping 5 minutes.

EDIT: Replaced within 5 minutes of showing up at the store, and the new one is FLAWLESS! I am super happy. :)

Just use the thing, you have a year to take it back for a replacement... In a few months, they'll be in stock and you can get a replacement in any Apple store.

I am the guy who sold an $600 TV for $400 for two dead pixels. I literally cannot enjoy a product if there's a stuck pixel. I just can't.

I downloaded the flashlight app and set it to strobe, and am going to leave it running for a few hours, if it doesn't fix, I am going to return it to the same apple store - hopefully they'll still have them in stock.

If not, I am going to return it completely. Don't want it. It's not even half lit, it's full blast.

I had this issue with one of the three 1st gen ipads i had. The first one had a faulty coating over the glass, exchanged and got one with dust under the screen, exchanged and got one with a stuck bright green pixel, and then finally returned.

They were pretty nice about it. The pixel unsticking programs didnt work at all, but best of luck. I dont really blame you...its a <10" screen, should be perfect IMO. Dont even start looking for backlight bleeding, i hear people are having problems with the ipad 2. I had minor bleeding on the ipad 1s i had.

Even Best Buy doesn't charge restocking fees anymore, Apple does? Also, you won't be able to chargeback shit if you try. It's a face to face transaction which are nearly impossible to successfully chargeback for defective. You accept the terms when you sign to buy it.

To Apples defense (god did I say that?), LCD's can have defective pixels no matter who made it. Though, I have been lucky and never gotten one on even 22" monitors.

loooooooooooooool, after running flashlight app overnight, the pixel disappeared...BUT - when I changed the brightness, I noticed ANOTHER pixel on the bottom. It disappears when brightness is at half, but when I raise it, it starts showing up.

There are no restocking fees. If you bought it at an Apple store, you were fairly unwise to not open it up and do the setup and check the screen.

apple will replace it, after all you have paid for manuf. cost of 2 ipads

I am sure they will, and I found out there are no restocking fees. It just sucks I have to take a 50 mile road trip to return it back to Jersey. (Since they have it in stock, I am going back there.)

Wait, who am I kidding. Today is a gorgeous day to take a road trip. Already queue'ing up some music for the ride.

Is that the nearest Apple store? Just because a store doesn't have one for sale in stock doesn't mean don't have ones for warranty replacement... I got mine replaced at a store that had none available for sale.

LOL, yeah, everyone does that at Apple stores... :whiste:

They always ask you and you should do it if you're 50 miles away, unless dead pixels is a foreign concept for you.

There are a million Apple stores here in Boston so it doesn't affect me.

Did you test for backlight bleeding? I absolutely hate shopping at the Apple Store. I like to browse there but forget about buying in the store. I bought our iPad1 at the Apple retail store. Never will I buy from Apple B&M store again. Absolutely the worst buying experience at a B&M store. They have the most retarded sales setup ever.

iPads don't have blacklight bleeding at all as far as I know. My iPad 2 has 0.

Thank you Apple PR man. Others beg to differ. I haven't tested our iPad 2 yet but I'm not that anal about dead/stuck pixel or light bleeding. Any LCD can have backlight bleeding. Only display immune to backlight bleeding is Samsung AMOLED.
