What do you guys think about the Air Force ROTC program? I think I might sign up for it but I want to hear the facts about the program from you guys and what do you think about it. I heard that you could get commissioned as a 2nd Lt. Is that true?

I tried to get the Air Force ROTC scholarship. Didn't get it. The interview is pretty much a psychological test disguised as a friendly meeting;). But yeah, after your 4 years of college you would be commissioned as 2nd Leiut. Which is the same as any person who joins the military with a college degree of any kind.

If you're intelligent enough to get it, you're intelligent enough to get other non-military scholarships, too. So you have options.

you cannot get 100% on the ASVAB. Even if you get everythig right they only give you 99% because the score means percentage of people you did better than. So you can't get a 100% or else you did better than everybody including yourself. Which is impossible. Atleast that's the way it was explained to me.

If anyone is wanting to fly then go USMC. They have a flight gaurantee that is pretty easy to get. In the Air Force you sign your life away and very well might end up being a deck officer or something. Plus Marines are the coolest, make fun of all the other services (not to many make fun of the marines), and will get you in better shape. The only downsides are that it's the hardest physically (which isn't really a downside), the army gets all the cool weapons and marines just get what the army is done with, and a lot of the guys aren't the best guys to hang out with, (unless you like getting drunk and cussing)
That's what I got from my year of marine corp ROTC. The last being the reason I dropped and some other religious reasons.

I would personally opt against joining any armed forces unless its your "dream" or you have nothing better to do. Not to say that all military people are "losers" - I respect them...but truthfully how many would willingly opt to get screamed at by some moron for years and take SH*T all the time if they had something better to do? Perhaps I refer only to the grunts ...
