Just to clarify: Islam doesn't condone this sort of thing.

I have a friend who is a Canadian citizen but I believe also a saudi citizen and he's into his religion pretty well, bowing to meca 5 times a day and all this, and he said it was awful what happened and nowhere does his religion say that its ok to kill innocents.

Screwed-in-the-head islamic practicers may think otherwise but I think even fundamental totally pure islamic religion doesn't condone this sort of activity. This is why the vast majority of the world (and yes including arabs and whoever else in the middle east) thinks this is awful. Although whoever did this probably thinks they are being true to Islam most followers of Islam would not agree.

Yeah, they claim they do it in the name of god, but suicide is an abomination of the religion of Islam, so go figure.

Everything too extreme is bad..... and I think those Taliban freaks are just using the islam as kinda defense....

using it as a cover to develop a military state led by Bin Laden, IMworthlessO

Even most of the conservative muslims don't condone this and don't support bin Laden's terrorism and these attacks. Those bent on making innocent muslims in general pay for this just shows their ignorance and the racism that they probably had before this all began. Excessive 'collateral damage' is completely unacceptable and would make us equal to the women and children killers that we just faced.

The way modern Islam is preached by the radical imams, this sort of thing IS condoned. How it is supposed to be, and how it is practiced are two very different things.

I posted this in another thread and I'm going to repost it here as I think it sends an important message...
Friday I finished up a temp job where I was helping an RF engineer in testing out cell sites in N. Ca. He happened to be an Iranian who is now a naturalized citizen. He said the general populace is very aware of the U.S. and the democracy here and most of the populace support the democracy and the way of life in the U.S. He told me of how hard it was for him to get here (had to go to 3 different countries just to get a visa here) so he could get his education and become a naturalized citizen. He said he is very proud to both be here and to be a citizen. He went on to say that the U.S. is a land of great opportunity as long as you open your eyes to it.According to him it's the govt of Iran that is the true enemy and not it's people as many people from his country very much want to immigrate here, but the govt (Iran)makes it very difficult to obtain permission to come here...He said he came here 8 or 9 years ago.So if I can believe him its Iran's govt that is the enemy and not it's populace so all of those who go around bashing people from other countries are just making the U.S. look bad...all this is just thought and conjecture as I really have no way of validating this persons stories, however it is possible as I have heard similar stories over the years, coming into contact from others who have come from that region of the world

I agree. I really resent those who call for retaliation that disregards the innocent, and the fact that muslims carried this out does not lead to 'guilt by association' by the other muslims.

Neither does Christianity, but that didn't prevent the Dark Ages or the Salem Witch Trials. It also didn't prevent Protestants and Catholics from killing each other in the name of the same deity.

It also doesn't seem to stop the ultra-orthodox Jews in Isreal from wanting to do the same things to the Palestinians.

Most, if not all religions do not condone such behavior. That doesn't stop maniacs from leading masses of people into such lunacy in the name of one religion or another.
