Have you looked at the RDX, it's pretty wide compared to it's competitors? Then there is always the MDX which is basically the widest midsized SUV you can buy and since the 3rd gen is hitting dealers in June, you can get great deals on them now.

If you want to carry shit to/from menards and you want to use it for hunting, you're probably better off getting something smaller (but big enough for most things) and just renting the $20 pickup truck when you need something bigger...

Besides, will the pathfinder carry full 4x8 sheets of drywall or plywood?

I doubt it. The only midsize SUV I know of that can carry 4x8 is a GMC Acadia.

The Pilot can as well. The MDX is wide enough, but you'd have to leave the rear hatch slightly open since it doesn't have the depth.
