It's after those two that my family went to imports.

you have 2 data points.

If you want an American sedan and like the Impala, look at the 96-97 SS. RWD, V8. Only comes in black. That's a nice car. 🙂

Have you ever driven a RWD car? Those things are mess. Try taking it out in the snow or up into the mountains to go skiing. They slide around and are a waste. My Crown Victoria is RWD and I hate it. I need to weight it down with sandbags in the winter to keep it on the road. Ever driven it downhill in ice? One wrong move send it sliding away.

Styling: I dont give a crap what it looks like. The inside is roomy and very comfortable.

And it drives like a big car and has the feel of one too.

WTF?? It will just have 240HP. Something that the Grand Prix has had for years, the Altima has had since '02 and the Accord even now has 240HP. And all three look better than that butt-crack Impala.

Christ, you of all people i would expect to know that how a car looks is an OPINION. your opinion is the car is ugly, obviously not everyone feels that way.

All that I'm saying is that it would be more fun than the base impala. He likes the Impala, it has bench seats and is roomy so more power to him.

Impalas are descent cars. And everyone who says they aren't for young people, how is Camry any different?

No one said that the Impala was for old people. Bench seats and column shifters in cars are for old farts.

So you are saying basically any full size car made in the 50s or 60s is an old persons car?

Hell i would take my Dad's 68 SS427 ANY day of the week and wouldn't care if people thought i had an old mans car.

so an avalanche is for old farts, because it has a column shifter and a bench seat? hmm, i guess the tahoe we used to own was too, cuz it had a column shifter.

my dad has only bought gm, well thats cuz he gets GMS, and not many problems at all, at 95k miles, in 3 years on the tahoe the water pump went, and that was the first problem he had.

we owned an impala for about 6 months before selling it, and only loosing like 1 grand on it. It was nice, good pickup, big (im 6'2 dads 6'4 and i could sit behind him) comfy, but no where near as comfy as SUV's are. decent sound system too (premium sound), good road noise deadening

If you buy a NEW car today with a colum shifter and a bench seat, you're collecting social security.

Forget trucks. We're talking about cars here. Most likely 5% of all cars sold in American have a bench seat and a column shifter. It is just a given that cars today have bucket seats and a console mounted shifter.

You're only gonna find a bench seat/column shifter in luxo battle cruisers and then only as an option in most cases. And which cars would those be? Town Car, DeVille, Crown Vic, Grand Marquis???

I think the word retirement car means very comfortable with a roomy interior.

Have you ever been in a Crown Victoria? Why would you not want one? Its like driving a couch.. feels great and you dont mind sitting in it.

As for the discussion on HP and supercharging and pickup.. the car moves forward and very nicely at that. It has a good pickup and can go at a decent speed. Why do I need something that can go 0 - 60 in a nanosecond if all I need a car for is to drive to and from work comfortably? Most of the time will be in traffic going 5 mph anyway so what difference does it make?

And why does it have to be a given to get bucket seats? They just are not as comfortable and the shifter in the middle console takes up a whole lot of room that could be used for other things like a 6th person or a place to stash things like books.

My friend once asked what animal was on the front of an impala.....

I can't get comfortable in bench seats b/c my ass is sliding around while going around corners...especially with leather seats.

Now with the leather seats in my Camry, my ass stays where its supposed to and and I'm comfortable. I can fit 5 normal sized people (including myself) comfortably in my car, but it's not very often that I have 4 other people besides me in my car.

As for storage space, I have a center storage compartment under the center armrest. I have a storage bin under my handbrake. I have one under where my cupholders pull out. I have a cubby hole below my light switch. I have map pockets in each door and I have seat pockets behind each front seat. Not to mention the space under each passenger seat. I have room for ALL of my stuff. And my trunk is relatively larger as well. And if I need more space, I fold down the rear seats (like when I'm transporting my mountain bike).

I don't need a full size car with a bench seat to do all of that.

Yeah, I own a 1998 Nissan 240SX SE.

the Impala is a nice choice LordJezo

some of this crap people are spewing at you is just that....crap

I went from an Acura Integra to a Buick Park Avenue, so the couch for a front seat with the shifter on the column is cool by me too!

1. You're a real genius .. have you heard of SNOW TIRES ?
2.You don't see BMW's and Other cars having trouble running around in the snow do you ? ( I drive an RWD and I didn't have to put any sand bags in my car. ) Oh yea... I went by this winter with Z-Rated tires. What do you have to say about that ? Maybe you just don't know how to drive for jack crap.
3.The people that does have trouble are people with All Seasons or High Performance Tires.
4.One wrong move sends it sliding away... it does so for FWD and AWD ... You think those are excempt ?
5. There you go "I dont give a crap what it looks like" It's ugly... The older impalas were nicer. If you think 200hp in that heavy ass car shows power... what would you think if you stepped into a lets say a 215hp car that weighs signficantly less ?
