Just talked to a friend from home . . ..

Any of you guys remember the thread posted here about Melissa Diego, and how she died?

Well, I knew that her name sounded familiar - she was from the same hometown, went to the same highschool . . . but apparently, I knew her . . . she was in band with me during my senior year - she was a freshman . . ..

I talked to my friend, who's at home now, and he said that he attended her funeral . . . everyone was there, and the whole church was filled. I don't know any churches around my area that is relatively small.

I feel horrible that I found this out first through ATOT, and the worse part is, I still can't remember her face. I feel horrible now . . ..

Its not like you killed her. We pass by thousands of people each year, and really have no reason to get to know them. Nothing to feel bad about.

was this the thread with the link to the Xanga?

I remember, it was quite disturbing. I think its always difficult to deal with "real" losses, with people you know, because it always feels like everything that happens these days are in some other world...not real, if that makes sense. I understand.

Agreed. It gets worse once you go to college, grad school, etc.
