Just starting watching the Game of Thrones. Amazing

I'm a huge fan of the books, I've read through at least 3-4 times. This week I finally decided to try and watch all the episodes from season 1 and I was not disappointed.

First off I gotta say I'm amazed at Peter Dinklage, the guy plays a great Tyrion Lannister. I've enjoyed everything about the series so far, I'm currently watching episode 6. It's gonna suck waiting for the next season to start.

I thought his character was the most interesting in the series for sure. He is a very good actor its a shame that for all his talent he wont get many serious rolls.

Yeah, they stick with the books pretty damn well, but vary from it just enough to keep it super interesting even if you've read the books.

I am currently reading A Dance With Dragons, I love the series of books.

I've never been so emotional at a book that I had to put it down and stop reading for a few days.

I actually just looked him up and he is number 20 on imdb right now. Thats fucking epic for a actor with his medical condition.

Game of Thrones is the best tv series i've watched in years. it started a little slowly, but the first season was well worth my time.

pretyt epic show. never read the books though i felt damn tempted (too many on my backlog )

tyrion is a very intersting character yeah. my favorite, both by plot and by acting

Cersei - I shall wear this as a badge of honor
Robert - Wear it in silence or I'll honor you again

that scene cracked me up

I lol'd at that in the book too.

I can't believe she actually manages to get crazier as the series progresses. And Jaime less so. Wouldn't have thought that at the beginning.

Amazing show! Can't wait for the Blu-ray to come out so I can re-watch the first season before season two starts in April.

I stopped watching the series on TV halfway through and let it build up while I read the books. Bad move. The rest of the time I was comparing the tv show to what happens in the book, expecting and not being surprised. I always do that. Therefore in the future I must always watch movie/tvshow THEN read the book and see how much more awesome it is.

Thus I have the rest of the books sitting there likely for several years (they are dead tree books, sets I got for the xmas)

I read through the book before watching the show. I'm not sure how someone could really enjoy the show without reading the book. It's almost always the case when comparing a movie/show vs. the book...but in this case you took 1000 pages of plot and most importantly *mental dialogue* that characters have with themselves and condense it down. Other books into movies don't quite have as broad of a gap between them as this.

There's a lot of backstory buildup and character interests that got lost in translation. My wife hasn't watched the series yet, and is interested to. And she hasn't read the books either. I'm curious how many questions she'll have if she watches first.

I loved the show, it's actually one of the best things I've watched in recent years, but I have absolutely zero desire to read the books. I like the characters and the stories as they are in the show and do not feel any need to get anything further from outside the show.

I didn't read the books and I thoroughly enjoyed the show. I watched the show with someone who had read the books who felt the need to constantly interject "important details" and explanations about who everyone was, but honestly, you don't need it. The show stands on its own just fine, and tells a compelling story very well. Sure, there's probably stuff in the book(s) that was omitted, but that's true of a lot of great movies and mini-series based off of books.

It already starts again April 1st? Can't wait.

Gotta capitalize on the momentum the show has. Those 2 year layoffs between seasons of some cable shows can really hurt ratings. A big complex series like this the quicker they can get them to air the better.

i read the book over a decade ago so i might as well have not read it, they show is fing amazing even without the book knowledge

I watched the series before reading the book, and I think the series is better. It cut to the chase much faster and I was shocked as I could be at the end of Episode 9. Still can't believe it.

It is really really good.

I've been watching Mad Men from the beginning lately too which is also excellent. I'm up to Season 4 in that series. Another show I never watched when it was on TV was Battlestar Galactica which is also really good IMO. I'm up to season 3 on that one.
