I'm 35 and eat a lot, 4k+ calories a day, many days 6k wouldn't be uncommon. Without working out I never put on lbs really, I might shoot between 200-210 but 210 is the heaviest I've been. I have went to a doctor to get checked for worms or some sort of problem, nothing came back. Since I have a crazy metabolism I'm guessing now I started working out today I'm going to have to do something to not get too small. I want to lose 10 or so lb, but what can I do to keep from dropping lb after that? As it stands I can eat fast food all day long and not put on a pound. I'm worried when I hit 190 I'm really going to have to figure out a way to keep my weight constant while working out. I'm not going for huge muscles, all I'm planning is some jogging, a bit of lifting and some sparring on my boxing machine. I have no problem eating more but I really can't afford to eat more than I already do.
I looked into those mega calorie protein shake mixes as a solution, but what else could I do?

Did you have your metabolism checked? Thyroid function?

If that's normal, then reducing activity is the only option other than increasing food intake.

Shakes are the way many large dudes have to go for costs. At about a buck for 40g or protein it's hard to beat. Plus when you are already eating 4-5 meals it's a nice break.

You make it sounds like you're magically going to drip 10lbs off and then lose more. :p

Actually, if you jump on a strength program, you can probably keep your weight pretty constant while getting a helluva lot stronger, which is by all means a great thing.

I think you said you struggled with 5 pushups? Go get underneath a bar!

One thing you should do in order to cut calories out of your diet and improve your health is drop fast food altogether. You've gotta be careful with that, man. You're ruining your body with that crap.

It's hard to eat a lot of calories with non junk/fast food. I'm looking into supplements that have tons of calories. But aside from that I can't think of any other option. Eating 5k a day is a chore. I'm going to search for other threads on this because I know they exist, but I bought some PureSport workout drink mix, haven't tried it yet but it looks good. Not so much for the calories though. Anyone on here use P90X? Another place people were recommending ISOPURE, but the reviews are crazy. It goes from one saying "best tasting mix evar!" to the next "horrible and makes me gag" The P90X gets pretty good flavor reviews but people complain of gas and #2 problems. ISOPURE nobody claims any problems.

Also I can't find any reviews of the PureSport anyone here use it? It's pretty expensive even in semi bulk seeing how it's not really the same as a protein shake. So I'd still need some sort of shake if I go with this. I bought a packet of the Workout and the Recovery.

Last question, I bought a Chocolate Peanut Butter PowerBar, now I don't expect a delicious ass candy bar, but the texture really threw me off. When I went on Amazon these had a lot of 5 star reviews and people saying how great they taste. Are these as good as it gets taste wise? I didn't exactly hate it, but definitely wasn't in love with it either. I like Peanut Butter stuff in general.

Bars don't generally taste very good. They are also not very good for you. Most of them use soy protein.

That PureSport stuff is just protein powder with some sugar mixed in. You'd be better off buying protein powder in bulk by itself and getting some Gatorade powder or chocolate powder to mix in with it.

I would just focus on losing weight at 3Kcals if you can

you can easily make beginner strength gains for a long while. Don't worry about how much you are eating just eat healthy and eat if you are hungry and track your weight.

Going the heavy supplement route would be a mistake at this point and how you predict your weight will move is conjecture at this point.

Trueprotein.com is pretty good since you can order protein plain and flavor it how you like it (also available there).

If I can eat 5k of calories a day and not put on a single pound I don't think it's much of a prediction to assume now that I'm working out weight will start to drop. By all accounts with me not working out at all for the past 5 years and eating like I do, I should honestly be 350-400lbs. My late night "snack" would be a meal to most people. Working out burns calories, so I'll have to do something to counter act that. I will look into prueprotein.com and figure out a shake I like. I know most people work out to shed pounds since that's not my goal I have to attack this a bit differently, especially with my uber metabolism.

Personally Optimum Nutrition makes the best tasting protein and easy mixing to me.

The whey is a bit 'thin', but the casein makes a nice shake.

Powerbars are great on the run and that's about it...like literally on the run (or bike).

People abuse them thinking they are a snake rather than more a meal replacement.

If you are bulking though I recommend 3-4 snacks a day and there are pretty good bars out there for it.

Not bulking, just want to maintain or at worse drop 10 or so lbs. I'm about 210 now, don't have a scale so I'm not sure. I'm not going to be doing enough lifting to bulk up. Right now it's pushups, some light boxing, some hand weights and the elliptical glider I have. Just looking to keep my weight constant and make sure I get enough protein and stuff so my muscles can build properly. Drinking the PureSport Recovery now after 32 minutes on the Glider and the taste is pretty good, much better than PowerAid or something. About to go pick up a Cliff Bar, reading that they're decent tasting and pretty good for you compared to other bars.
