Yea...DDR way cheaper...im just surprised the costs never went down.

With this virus outbreak we had at work, i had to work on several machines, noticing how poorly they ran and surprised the end users actually delt with it.

why did you put 3 gigs in your system?

upgrading 6 machines to 512 and who knows what well do with the old 128mb since you have to install them in pairs or use a terminator

Seems like it would have been cheaper to replace those machines altogether; or at least the mobo in them. Salvage the CPU, ditch mobo, and pick up some cheap DDR RAM. 😕 Fools and their money.....

dell machines, would have had to replace the cases as well...which in turn means more time that i dont have.

and when we purchase new desktops they are fully loaded to the max...

upgrading the ram in 6 machines vs buying new machines, configuring, deploying and not having to trash a decent machine is actually cheaper in the long run

If you have $1800 to throw away on ram, why didn't you just buy a completely new computer that uses DDR2? You can get a kickass computer for $1800.

I did. "customer upgrades" didn't sink in. 😱

Why didn't the op just get 4 128MB sticks so he'd have 512MB of ram per machine instead or possibly 2 256MB stikcks? I'm pretty sure it has 4 slots...

Room for expansion without having to scrap existing ram?
