Vonage.com works for me.

Wow $0.03 per minute to Australia, I wonder how the call quality is compared to BigZoo.com?

If the Phone Co's didn't rape the Country for the old fashioned Switching Network we wouldn't have to go to an inferior Technology to save money. :|

Please keep the blame where it belongs.

Same with Television. I just switched to inferior Satellite service because the cable Co kept raising rates every two months until it finally is the same price as Satellite except now I have two boxes for the price I was getting for one box with cable. :|

Like their support.

I was reading up on dslreports after I ordered packet8, what a genius I am. I heard broadvox and voicepulse are probably the best right now, however I haven't tested it out myself so can't say. I haven't heard anything bad about broadvox, only good things. Broadvox is small so who knows what it will be like when it gets bigger, hopefully they will have the same quality that they do now. With voicepulse I heard the sound is the best. Voicepulse is pricier at $25 with a 1 year contract and you have to buy the supira from them for like $79, but if your going to go with voip I would go with either of them.

KK, Any update on your VOIP experiences?

Well, it's been about 3 or 4 weeks with Vonage. The first couple days of using it I had issues with losing communication one way, either I could only hear the other party, or they could only hear me. This happened anywhere from 4-16 minutes into a call. After getting advice from broadbandreports to switch out my modem, the problem went away before I looked into buying a new modem. The only thing different I did was put the motorola device right inbetween the cable modem and router instead of putting it after the router. Since the first couple days it's been working flawless. Voice quality is no different than a regular POTS line. I am still waiting for my old phone number to be ported out. If I don't see any change in the status this week, I'll email Vonage. I want to get rid of my comcast phone now.

How is using your regular house phone but being able to use it in any area code over the internet an inferior technology? Vonage is a cool service...I just woudn't use it without keeping my landline. They havn't worked out all the bugs yet, but I think phone calls over the net will be what everyone is doing sometime down the road.
