Last week i decided it would be a good idea to set up linux on my Laptop. So i did, and after about a week of using it i really grew attached to it, but the lack of good games really turned me off. so i decided to go the dual boot route. Setting this up was 100 times easier than i thought it would be, so if any of you are debating weather or not to try linux this is a great way to do it, and it was a real easy setup.

just thought i would share my good experience with linux :)

More info please. I've dual booted OS/2 and WinXX for years. When I tried to add Linux I was unsuccesful due to not knowing my way around Linux. I was afraid the Linux drive requirements would mess up my working system. Should I install Linux first on the new system I'll setup next week then add my other OS's?

Still a linux beginner myself, but this is what I've got...

Had XP installed and wanted to try Linux. So using partition magic i reduced the size of the Win XP partition on my hard drive, leaving 8 Gb of free space.

Booted from the Linux CD and created a root partition and a swap partition out of the free space, all done with disk-druid which comes up during the installation.

Chose the GRUB bootloader (also from within linux setup), with DOS (Windows) as the default bootup.

And that's it!

Then spend hours trying to set up all the stuff for my nforce2 motherboard :frown:

This is how it went with the Shrike release of Redhat 9 and also Fedora, don't know about any others.
