Just set up dual monitors | Gaming gamma = Need nightvision

I just set up my first dual monitor setup and I'm having an issue. When gaming in windowed mode day of defeat source is really dark and the video option to increase brightness is grayed out. What can I do about this?

My rig:

e6400
asus p5b delux
2gb team group
9600gt
610w psu
dell s2409w
compaq 17" crt

My second question is regarding ATi video cards. A friend of mine says he programed a hotkey to allow him to switch monitors while still in game. This allowed him to play at full screen and just f6 to switch to the other monitor for web browsing/chat. Anyone have experiences with this? Is there anything like that for nVidia?

cliffs:

dual monitor gaming (windowed) results in screen being too dark. Need fix.

Hotkey to allow switching between monitors during gaming. Only on ATi?

You can set up hotkeys with Rivatuner. I get this brightness issue on both ATI and Nvidia cards in various (full screen) games and use the keys to load an increased gamma profile for those games.

I don't know if CCC lets you do it, but ATI Tray Tools lets you set up the same kind of hotkeys as Rivatuner.

Hmm, How do I know what to put in the profile? 😕

EDIT- I think I found out what you are talking about. Application profile editor, the associated executable is hl2.exe correct? If so, what do I put in the profile part?

EDIT2: Ok, I can increase the gamma in low level color adjustment and it look fine. I guess I will tinker with it till I learn how to create that profile to load only when I start up the game.
